Highbrow Halloween

This costume, sadly, went over everyone's head. They had to have a costume inspired by a book. The teacher actually took the book and leafed through it... like she had never seen it before. Hmm...

I can't see the title. What is the book?

A Little Princess.
We're going for the pre-boarding school, still living in India with Papa, attire.

I knew exactly what it was...the Shirley Temple version on tv.....magic. I loved the book even more....I think she looks like perfection and the teacher-she's an idiot.

Bravo Baby F!

I especially enjoyed when she briefly gave us the vulcan salute at the very beginning.

Those girls of yours are just gorgeous...

Love the costume! Hands down that is one of my favorite books EVER. Even at 28 years old, when I open those pages I am completely sucked in. Kid is seriously so pretty with those gorgeous blue eyes! Does Baby have a vampire mouth going on or is it just the way it appears on the video? Either way, she is so cute!

HC,
OMG I just had to re-watch it to catch that. I am laughing my ass off.

Kiki,
I had the girls watch that version with me the other day on Netflix. I've gotten them hooked on Shirley movies this summer... they love her.

Gigs,
Thank you! Sadly, Baby 100% has my eyebrows... so... when those babies turn brown she's probably going to hate me!

Reesa,
LOL... Baby really has vampire fangs... real ones... it is hilarious. Her top teeth are there but are about half the height of her eye teeth, so when she smiles she looks exactly like a mini vampire. That video came out really whacky on YouTube... terrible quality for some reason... but the teeth are legit. The other day Mr F put candy corn in his mouth to match her fangs and I took a picture of them together, I'll have to post it!

Kid's costume is so pretty and I love the scarf! She is growing up to be such a beautiful girl. Baby looks so different with her cute short hair. You did a great job on the cut by the way. Jen

How could that teacher not have ever seen that book? It's a classic. I have to admit I never read, but I DID watch the Shirley Temple movie and loved it.

Kid is leap years ahead of those other kids. It may not be a smooth social ride for her as the years go by, but in the end, she will be the much, much cooler one.

What book is Lady Ga Ga in? Seriously? What parent would dress their kid up like that for school? Don't they know other parents are watching and judging their parenting skills? Just kidding. Sort of.

BTW, interesting tidbit on Lady Ga Ga that I learned last night. She is super smart...like Gifted. Jack just got an application to the John Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (it's a program for gifted learners) because of his state test scores and in the brochure it said that Lady Ga Ga had attended this program (along with other like the Google guy and Facebook guy.) Of course, I was fixated on the Lady Ga Ga.

And yes, I added the thing about Jack as a bit of bragging. I can't actually tell anyone in town because that would be rude. Yup, I raise super crazy, but super smart kids!

Of course, the program is really cool, but it will probably be yet again another thing we can't do for our kids because it is so damn expensive.

Thanks, Jen.

julie,
Even if she never read it... she should have heard of it... that is all I'm saying. Plus she dresses like she is a time traveler from 1984. And not in the retro "it's back" kind of way... in the crisp wide black coolots and large holiday themed sweaters with loafers kind of way. It is insane in the membrane.
Go Jack!! That is awesome, Julie! I hope you find a way to get him to attend... then he can have Murphy living in his basement. ;)

I know...how could she not have even heard of it!

then he can have Murphy living in his basement. ;) LOL! Although, I have a feeling that Murphy is actually going to ruling the world...we all will be living in his house and he'll have a pimped out basement man cave extraordinaire where he manages his millions. I think Jack will make a very good accountant.

Have you ever seen the PBS version of A Little Princess? That is better than anything - my sister had it on VHS and my kids wore the tape out!

Kid looks adorable!

I wish I could be a Lady Gaga type of parent. Having the school give me directions on what my kid should dress up as for Halloween makes me want to rebel. Let's turn a fun holiday into an assignment for Mom & Dad! We had to do that at our old school, and I had to make two costumes so that the boys could dress up how they wanted (how novel!) for Halloween.

P/F,
LOL... if you had seen these parents I can guarantee you would not want to be them ;)
Yes I found the book thing annoying. They didn't even tell parents until last week. Thankfully Kid was going in Indian garb anyway.
