T Minus 30

30 minutes before our showing this morning, I went to pull the cord for our ceiling fan.

And then this happened:

Don't worry about the light shade.

It broke it's fall by colliding with my face first.

There Ain't No Shame In Her Game

Yesterday I looked out the side door and was surprised to see a small pool of water by our garbage can.

"Where did that water come from?" I asked.

"I don't know." Baby replied.

"Did you turn the sprinkler on?" I asked.

"No." She returned.

And for a moment I tried to believe her.

Then she continued...

"There must a been a water tornado or somptin."

And then I didn't.

"Must have been." I replied and went about doing kitchen things and wondering how her new ability to turn on the hose is going to wreck havoc in my life.

Five minutes later, with her hand on the door, she called over her shoulder nonchalantly:

"Actually it was me."

No kidding.

As It Turns Out

The Disney princess markers in the Target dollar bins are not washable.

It also turns out Baby is not done acting out about Mr F's departure on Tuesday.

The Word

Yes!

the owners have accepted our offer

BUT

It is a short sale. So now the waiting begins. The offer now goes to their bank (s) for approval. This could take months. We will get weekly status updates from their realtor.

It is a 1935 home built for the Methodist church down the road as their rectory. It is all original inside (which we personally love) and just needs the floors to be refinished & fresh paint (well that and a furnace... but that's part of our offer). It has a two car garage, a dry & waterproofed basement (yay!) & a walk up attic that could be finished. So it's perfectly perfect. I have space to have all my workout equipment and Mr F can have his desk completely out of sight (YES!!!) in the basement. There is also a two car garage for our excess outdoor hoarding storage space. It's three bedrooms and has the sweetest little library nook right off the living room which is PERFECT for lining with the kid's toy shelves. It also has original sconces throughout (I know some of you will be jealous of that). And a telephone nook... and an actual entryway with coat closet (haven't had one of those yet!).

AND it's one block down from our old house... and all our old neighbors! Kid is very excited and is clearly put at ease being able to picture exactly where we will live, and exactly what park she will be playing at, and exactly what ice cream shop we'll be walking to.

Hopefully! Fingers crossed! We still need the bank to give it the OK.

Oh, and did I fail to mention it's just about 100K cheaper than the first house we bought in Ann Arbor... 10 years ago. See? That's why we're doing this.

Waiting With Bated Breath

Are they going to accept our offer?!!!!????!!!!!????!

Kid found a four leaf clover yesterday.

And then right after she showed it to me, when I was hauling in the groceries, we got a call for a showing.

In an hour.

The day after Mother's Day... Mr F still here (but not here to help... just here enough to have extra stuff for me to pick up)... babysitting that morning...

so the house was a bad off as it's been this whole time.

I had been letting it go until Mr F left. What was the point?... we never have showings anyway.

I thought I was going to have an actual heart attack my adrenaline was so high. I was shaking. I wasn't even sure I could actually do it all in an hour:
Put away the groceries
Bathrooms
Vacuuming
Beds
Stowing the pack n'play & highchair
Picking up toys
Hiding backpacks & coats
Dishes
Stashing large cumbersome items in the oven
Windows
Appliances
Counters
Stashing the computer
Yelling at the kids
etc
etc
etc
(I did not have time to mop the floors)

But at least we had a showing. Maybe our luck is turning.

I told Kid. She said...

"But that's not what I wished for. I wished you'd give me my allowance from last week."

Once, Twice, Three Times

Putting an offer on another house today. This time it's not a competition... but... it is another short sale.

So, we'll see.

Hopefully I'll have good news soon.

Oh, and Mr F caught the yard rodent yesterday. I couldn't ask for a better Mother's Day gift.

Here he is gearing up for the task:

Kid said from the window...

"Why does Dad have a bucket, a rope, a stone block, a shovel, and some duct tape?"

Cause he's about to commit murder, Honey.

Happy Mother's Day!!!

Or as we like to call it around here...

Smothers Day!

The girls and Mr F served me breakfast in bed. Then the girls stood about 5 inches from my face watching me eat.

"Can I just have one bite of your waffle?" Kid asks.

"Dad is making you your own." I reply.

"I know, but I'm not sure if I'm going to like it... can I just try yours first?" Kid explains.

Ah, yes, of course.

Please feel free to waste a bite of the waffle I'm enjoying before you risk wasting any of your own.

Happy Mother's Day!
