Easter... The Preparations

Today:
go to grocery store for jelly beans
prepare strata
dye 12 eggs
iron Easter dresses

Tonight:
assemble Easter baskets
hide eggs
fill plastic eggs for outdoor hunt (yes I've decided a few buried in the snow could be a really good time occupier!)

The Easter Garland:

(Yes I realize this seems somewhat unimpressive in pics... but let me tell you each of those eggs is sewn onto the ribbon with clear thread that has been threaded onto buttons inside the eggs to keep them on... it was a LOT of work... so BEHOLD it!)

Fabulous!

We did the Easter egg hunt today at the local park in the snow, and people have already been freaking out over the photos on our family web site. WTH? We live in MN, people. It snows here.

Do you do ultra-fab eggs? Because I don't, and I'm not sure I want to show up here tomorrow if you're going all Martha Stewart on your eggs.

Deb,
you know I have it in me... but I try not to go too crazy anymore because it was giving Kid a complex ;)
I'm pleased with mine but in a not too over the top sort of way... you'll have to wait and see.

Kathi d,
hey thanks for commenting :)
I was sort of going alone fine all day then realized "holy crap it's 10:30 and I forgot about the freaking strata!!!". The dresses? Yeah I decided that they were going to end up wrinkled in the car anyway... no ironing needed ;)

Hey have you read or do you read Real Simple? This month's issue reminded me of you, talking about how to clean things and how to de-clutter. Interesting stuff.

Everything looks really cute. We're celebrating with lamb from Trader Joe's -- possibly grilled. Yum!

LOL! Can't wait to see the snow pics. We don't do an actual egg hunt on Easter, but the Easter Bunny does hide Tori's and Libby's baskets. (Which are never actually baskets. Last year they were trashcans for their rooms. This year they were overnight luggage pieces filled with the traditional Easter crap) It took them a long time to find them Easter morning :)

Michelline,
we ended up bagging the buried eggs idea... it would have been fun though (in theory).

trash cans & luggage?! I love that!

Your party looked amazing by the way. Were those marshmallow guns?

Instead of using traditional Easter grass last year, we padded their trashcans with fun towels (our pool had just been completed). The year before that, we used wooden baskets (bookshelf storage things) and used cotton balls instead of grass. We called them bunny tails :)

Thanks! And yes. Chris built 50 of them as a gift for each child. And we provided them with colored marshmallows as ammunition. Those were VERY popular.

BTW - you looked awesome in your Easter picture.
