Oh, Awesome... thanks for the link. I am, of course, in the obsessively reading everyone's adoption stories phase. I'm blown away by all of your fundraising! I had thought about Reese's Rainbow (and cried and cried and cried over all of the children listed) but was intimidated by how expensive the Russian adoptions were. I don't know if I have it in me to do all that you have done to raise so much. We still don't know exactly what direction we are taking. Money is a huge factor.
We have our first meeting next week. I'm terrified and excited and terrified ;)

The fundraising is a big, big part of it. I have lots of tips and suggestions for you if you'd like them. Money is a huge factor in any adoption - and plan for it to cost more than you are told it will. But don't be discouraged by that. We literally started this process with $87.49 in our child's Reece's Rainbow grant fund and have raised over $20k since August. Well, really between the end of August and the end of December. I'd love to chat or email about the process and what your family is thinking about. I love to talk adoption! I think my email is linked to my blog, but regardless it's ksimp6577 at bellsouth dot net.

I know you only know me via the electrons of the internet, but the invitation is always open to sit down with my wife and I and chat adoption.

Good luck to you!

Thank you, Bob. Within the next two weeks were meeting with AAI & HATW. I'm pretty nervous... I've seen bad reviews for both, but figure only people with bad experiences leave reviews. I'd definitely love to talk with you both, once we have our meetings and have some concrete questions.

I have seen bad reviews for every agency out there. I would look for patterns in the reviews to see if they seem legit and ask the agency lots and lots of questions.

I have a real issue with anonomous reviews online, wheather it be for a Microwave, car or something truely important and emotional like adoption.

As you plan for your adoption keep an eye on the federal tax credit. Nearly every year the $13,000+ tax credit is set to sunset only to be saved before it expires. It now ends at the end of the this year, so hopefully it be saved again.

The state of Michigan just eliminated their $1,000 credit. Bastards.
