We've waited a shockingly long time to see some real significant snow in Michigan this year.
I mean... it's been disappointing.
Finally, we heard a storm front was coming through.
Excitedly we headed to Trader Joe's to stock up on the necessities (meatballs & chocolate croissants).
The storm came...
Not exactly a blizzard, but a good couple of inches.
And that's just what our very own (yes you read that right... very own) sledding hill needed.
(If you've been reading for a few winters you will recall that Mrs F loves her some sledding... really... if there's even a dusting of snow you are pretty much guaranteed that I will be donning my snow pants... believe it... and making a go of it)
Mmm.... big COLD, RED, WET cheeks...

here all the snow has melted over the weekend, so it's just freaking cold right now: though that's just as fine, makes nurturing my possible case of kissing disease easier
...and please no questions as to who i've been kissing as my sad answer will be no one - i just like that name better than gladular fever or whatever ;)
Awesome! We are still waiting for snow, just got buckets of rain this weekend. Kids were VERY disappointed!
Ah! Baby's smile looks just exactly like my youngest's did at that age!
And we did watch that ADD special on PBS, which I found funny and hopeful. I assume Mr. F. could relate! We have another neuropsych eval with a new doc I already love in January...so, we're still pursuing answers for our guy...
Brina,
"kissing disease" lol... I love it.
Gigs,
that show was about Mr F (minus the hyperactive stuff). I was laughing hysterically through out. I especially thought the whole sex bit about ADDers usually either avoiding sex or having sex addiction and the guy saying "I think I'm addicted to avoiding it... or maybe I'm avoiding an addiction." was hilarious. I was also really glad they talked about the hyper focus aspect, I think most people characterize it as an inability to focus... which is not the whole picture. The hyper focus is a strength if used correctly. It's always helpful for me to be reminded how much of his behavior is out of his control, it's not always easy in the moment to see it that way. What is also interesting is how much of ADD is like anxiety (which Mr F was originally diagnosed with and that was wrong) and it's something we need to talk to Kid's dr about. The brain is interesting stuff.
I wish my kids would have loved sledding yesterday. But by the time we drove, parked, hiked to the hill and went down the hill freakishly fast for the baby's taste, and then the 40mph winds kicked up. . .
Yeah. It didn't end well.
I'm jealous of your OWN hilL!
Torey,
Come on over anytime you want to sled! We've got a couple of bunny hills too ;)
The winds were a bit much at times that is true. We didn't get out early enough to avoid them and did have to take cover every couple of minutes. Branches were falling all over the place... fortunately the big hill isn't under them. The rest of our yard was a danger zone, though.
the house i grew up in was on top of a hill, every single kid in the neighborhood would come to our front steps to slide down the hill. the hardest part was when we had to go in for dinner and others didnt and they were sledding right out our window.
The snow was awesome. Smitty Jr and I built a snow fort that the Wonder Twins promptly invaded. A small snow man was also brutally murdered with snowballs and a small shovel.
We have no real sledding hill to speak of, though, without driving a ways, so color me jealous on that one.
LOVE those pink cheeks. We have a similar hill situation, and I love it. (Although I'm not sure it's worth the price of the house. Ask me again when I get my property tax bill.) We had a blizzard this past weekend, but I haven't taken the kids out. -21 is too cold for this California girl.
You are lucky to have your very own hill! Enjoy!
Please just don't ice skate :-)
We went to crest hill. Great time. Linc did great.
What was the PBS special? I must watch it. I am so glad they talked about the hyperfocus. I can't wait to watch it.
So awesome having your own sledding hill. We have a little, teeny, tiny "hill" that my kids sled down. I mean like it is like a bump in the ground, but the kids have so much fun on it. Of course, living in the tropics of the Northeast, we have had no snow. Jeesh...even my friend down in Nashville has gotten snow. It is such a bummer.
Julie, it was called "ADD and Loving It?!" and was set up as a comedic but informative look at ADD. Check your listings!
I'm with Angie... protect your tuckus, woman!!!
