I have never seen anything like Chris Harrison's blatant contempt for a contestant during the After the Rose like that before! It was kind of insane... and so uncomfortable to watch. What the hell was going on?! J.P is clearly straight up abusive, right? Did you see how cowed Nikki was? Bizarre. The only enjoyable part was watching Sean try not to get out of his seat and kick Juan's ass. Craziness.
I don't know when I decided I liked The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. I never used to watch any of them, and now I just can't get enough. It's so bizarre how we get so involved in these shows!
I started the season being so disappointed that JP was the new bachelor. I don't get it. Aside from the washboard abs that pretty much all of the bachelors have, I couldn't see the draw. He's not a good looking guy, he's not intelligent, and he's kind of annoying to listen to.
All of those things just became multiple as the season went on. And while I can chalk a few things up to editing, it was just so obvious that things were going astray behind the scenes!
But I really never expected the last few episodes to go the way they did. And that 'After the Rose' interview was just SO INSANE. As you said, it was uncomfortable to watch...I felt stress in my own chest!
I hope so much of it is just a seriously bad call for media glory and that Nikki moves on before things get even weirder.
Jamie, I find that the older I am and more removed from that phase of my life the more I enjoy the show. It is really a fascinating social experiment (and awesome guilty pleasure!). I always marvel at the herd instinct that takes over the women in the beginning. I think there has only been one time when after the first cocktail party a girl has said "I don't really like him" and left the show.

I loathe this guy.

" 'salright, Brenda. I respect that. One hundred percent. It's fine."
Worst. Bachelor. Ever.
One hundred percent narcissist.
Matt, hahaha!

That's totally a good point...about aging away from that phase.
