September 19th, 117.2 pounds, 25.7% body fat

November 15th, 111.8 pounds, 21.9% body fat

*************************************************************
This is what I did:
I changed one habit at a time.
Keep a food diary (every damn day)
Used Calorie Count Plus to establish a calorie range.
Count all calories (heavily using my cheap kitchen scale and CCP for additional counts)
Eat six small meals a day (300, 200, 300, 200, 4-500, 2-300)
Cut out liquid calories (except my cup of coffee).. oh and no "diet drinks" either
Keep treats on hand at all times (that I can control myself with)
Chew gum after meals to give me the "sweet finisher" I crave
Accepted the fact that working out is my "me time"
Exercised 5-6 days a week for an hour (I walk steep hills on my treadmill, ie intervals)
Stayed within my calorie range every damn day (seriously in 4 months I have gone over maybe 4 times total)
Did not take a weekend off or go out to eat (unless you have a serious plan)
Did not get discouraged by plateaus.. if you plug along they will break

so are you doing both diet and exercise or more one than the other ??? i am 123lbs at 5'4" but it is my belly that has the real problem. i am trying to exercise but can't seem to get to the gym consistently. and you already know my chocolate/snack problem !!! don't even get me started on my carb addiction.

Hi Feener,

I'll update the bottom of the post with more details.. I was just too tired last night.

You can also go to the very bottom of my main page and read about how I started losing the weight.

This is the tail end of my postpartum weight loss.

I am 5'3"... so I know how a few pounds can make a BIG difference on the tummy!!! :)

I calorie count and exercise. I will say the biggest difference happened when I decided to do both and to up my exercise. During this weight loss phase I was doing 4-6 hours of cardio. Now I'm down to about 3-4 hours and can easily maintain. I am b'feeding... so my calorie limit during weight loss was around 1800... w/o b'feeding probably you'd need to do 1400-1500.
I am very hard core with the calorie counting, I weigh everything. Having said all that I eat whatever I want all day.. as long as I'm in my calorie range. Seriously.. I eat chocolate multiple times a day.

On the left hand sidebar is a section called "Mrs Furious Motivates" (almost at the bottom of the sidebar) all those links are to weight loss posts.

She means per week. I shoot for those numbers per month...

Wow! How freaking cool is that?

Hi Amy!

thanks... one of the best things I have done for myself motivation-wise is take these progression shots. Hilariously I thought I looked like a total badass when each one of these was taken (including fat mom with sweaty nasty rat tail braid)!

Thanks Sarah...

but that's 4 months! ;) I didn't do the pics or record my body fat before July so I don't know how much higher it was (sadly it was certainly higher...)

lol... who put a video camera in my living room!?!?

also re: plateaus

I plateaued about 3 times in this 4 month period. Mine last 2-3 weeks and then just when I was about to give up and started thinking "hmmm maybe this is all I can lose".. I would drop 2-3 pounds the next week. I pretty much averaged 1 pound a week, just in three week spurts...

That's amazing and awesome! You look great. It is so inspiring to see the transformation...it is subtle and significant (meaning that it did not look like you had much to lose/tighten up to begin with, but I am going to shut up now because I don't even know what I am trying to say...all I mean is that you look fucking fantastic! I had to add the "F" word just for you! :)

Mrs Furious said...

Hey Julie!

thanks for the compliment.. and the f-bomb ;)

thank god you had my back over at the Katieo grocery post! I thought I had stumbled into an alternate universe....

Julie said...

I know about the grocery post! I felt so wasteful...and a bit spoiled. I mean I spend more money on my coffee beans in a month than a couple of people spent on food for the month. I definitely have to do more meal planning though. Hey, the case of chocolate milk you buy for Kid...it wouldn't happen to be the Horizon Organic milk? If so, I buy that, too, for my kids. No wonder our food bill is higher! And holy crap on the milk costing $4.99 where you live. That is truly outrageous. You know what is a little sad here...the fact that I have so much to say about food shopping. This is what my post-children life has come to! I used to be able to talk about politics, social causes and such. Now I can talk the talk when it comes to groceries. By the way, my most favorite store on earth is Whole Foods. And it was even before I had 2 kids and made food shopping and nights out at Target my main fun for the week.

Wowsers. That is awesome. I wish I would have done something like that. I have some horrible pics of me a in a bikini at 168 (should be illegal). I'm at 140 now. 130 is my dream weight, but I'm shooting for 135. I'm a little taller though, but still.

Julie...

yeah Horizons Chocolate Milk... I made the grievous error of also getting a case of White Milk to send to school for lunch (lets just say it was not a hit) and now I have $24 worth of mini milks sitting in the bottom of my pantry!

You should move here and we could carpool to WFS and Target! :)

And if makes you feel better as soon as we get to Target I take Kid to Starbucks where she gets a Vanilla Horizons Milk and I get my Mocha as we do our shopping... Target+Starbucks was the greatest thing that ever happended to me!

LOL!

yeah I'm a midget. All I can say is that I NEVER thought I could weigh what I do today.. I didn't even weigh this in highschool (my leanest fittest previous weight was 114 and I was 19).
So shoot for 130 you can do it!
Seriously this wasn't my goal..I didn't even think this was a humanly possible weight for me. For me I think it has to do with the long cardio times... I think it keeps me in "fat burn" longer.
Good luck!!!

Congrats! You look fabulous.

Your blog is one of the things that got me working on getting healthier. Altho I don't have kids and am of the older generation, I still check out your blog every week.

It's amazing how focused you are about everything. You have a lot going on in your life and yet, there you are, measuring your body fat content. Most people (ok, I) would say, geez, I can't handle all this!

My take away from your posting this time is that I need to start exercising. I've been focusing on food and calories and not doing the activity part. I've joined Weight Watchers and they include that but when you said it here, it clicked for me...it'll be easier if I exercise.

Thanks for the inspiration!

Moanna,

thanks for your comment!

These photos span the time from when I decided exercise had to become equally as important as calorie counting. I definitely would not have dropped as much in this last phase (nor would I look like this) if I hadn't committed to that part.

Good luck and thanks for reading.

Holy moley! You are brave to have taken those pics and you look great! Good for you. :) And thanks for being specific about what you did to get there.

Mrs Furious said...

Hi pt-lawmom,

thanks. Yeah with the first pic I did kind of think "what am I doing?!?!" but back then I didn't have quite as many readers ;) Now I am really glad I did it.. since you just can't see the changes as well in the mirror.

If you are trying to lose weight.. all I can say is that this worked for me. I had to suck up a few things (no soda, actually working out, no "me" time, and calorie counting everyday) and then it was mostly just being super committed. I can say now it was completely worth it. Good luck!
