The Evidence

Someone asked how my long cardio sessions toned my stomach. Here is me now:

If you want to know what I looked like before you can look at this:

This was taken in July at the start of my cardio training. I weighed 21 pounds more and was 31% body fat. And NO I am not sucking-in in the top picture.

Here is my progression shot montage if you missed this one before:
Go HERE to read the accompanying post. These shots track a four month weight loss.

Mrs F, that is an amazing photo. Okay, now I'm definitely trying it your way!

Damn. Well, I'm a believer. I don't own a treadmill unfortunately but you have inspired me to get off my butt and get outside and go for a walk. I will have to do longer since there are no inclines around here but something is better than nothing.

amazing and beautiful! for me cardio did not tighten up my abs, but I carried all my almost 300 lbs on my belly, sad but true, and all my docs agreed it wasn't going to happen no matter what I did, and trust I tried it all, apparently I have no elasticity in my skin at all, its just the way I am; which is not how everyone is thankfully! so after loosing I had to resort to surgery (in Sept) to remove the 8lbs of excess skin, now my tummy is much prettier, not 2 piece bathing suit pretty but much better :0) and the hubby loves the new 07 model of the ol'belly button ;0)

Thanks for the proof and the comment back. I will definitely be trying my first Mrs F routine tonight.
The name is Amber, by the way. :)

Shirls,
your weight loss is a WHOLE other story. YOU are amazing
There is a reason I don't show lower than my "waist line". I've got excess skin too. I carried my kids straight in front and I too don't have a lot of collagen. I'm not sure I have the courage to post those pics though! If I can maintain my weight successfully I am thinking of having that removed in a couple years. I'm glad your surgery went well and that you are happy with the results!

aww sucks, your making me blush! seriously the fact that you of all amazing people think I did something special makes me proud, thanks it really does mean a lot to me :0)

Mrs Furious said...

Hey everyone!

You know what they say... A picture is worth a thousand words!

I hope it works as well for all of you!

Mrs Furious said...

Shirls,
are you serious?!? You have lost over 100 pounds! What I have done is nothing compared to that. Really.

People go check out Shirls site if you haven't already. Now she is inspiration!

Oh I've adopted your stickers system :)

I am cracking up at your daughter in the corner of that shot!

The transformation is amazing. I am particularly amazed by how much your arms and your face changed!

P.O.M. said...

Oh my gosh - my first thought is "Damn woman - you look great." My second thought is "Kid is hilarious."

Mrs Furious said...

Deb,
seriously... I always thought I had "matronly upper arms" and I really believe I could never change that. So that is one of the things I am most pleased with.

P.O.M.,
You are correct on both fronts! ;)

Hey you, give me about 10 minutes and then you need to check your email. I'm sending you something VERY important!

And NO I am not sucking-in in the top picture.

LOL! That was actually the VERY FIRST thing I had thought. Then I saw this comment.

You look awesome!

Mrs Furious said...

Michelline,
somehow I knew there'd be skeptics out there! ;)

You truly are a badass. Although, I have to say that Shirls is a MAJOR badass!! Go you!!

I'm down to my ideal weight (something about working at a pet store and unloading truckloads of dog food) but I still have the excess skin thing going on. Mostly around my belly button area. I'm not through having kids though, and I really have no muscle tone in that area, so I figure it's not worth fixing right now!!

Any ideas on how to do some cardio things without a babysitter or a treadmill?

Mrs Furious said...

Torey,
I'm with Tina on this one.
Check into these DVDs that is Shirls trainer! Come on look at that woman's abs!!! And as for the postpartum belly button area. Even now (and you can see this in person) it isn't as firm it takes a while for all that to go back to normal. If I sit down it still poofs out like every other mom.

Shirls said...

wow, thanks Torey and of course I love Denise (www.fitnessfix.ca) and just so you know those killer abs of hers are changing to, baby #1 due in May and she is thrilled!

Torey said...

Thanks ladies.

I love coming here and commenting because there is such a sense of community and I feel like everyone here is so "real". No one here claims to be perfect. I love it.

Thanks to this blog, I've been keeping my house clean (which is a HUGE step for me) and I've even done some cooking as of late. I feel like a domestic goddess (which I'm NOT by most people's standards) and it's all thanks to all the talk and tips here!!

Now I'm gonna get fit with y'all too!!
Thanks!

I am so impressed with your stomach. First off, how flat it is and second off that you have the cajones to post pictures of it! Now, changing the subject, let's talk about your Magic Cookie Dough. My husband is the cookie baker in the family and he is always on the lookout for the best chocolate chip cookie recipe. I emailed him your recipe and he is making them tonight! I AM SO EXCITED. I love frozen dough. But I am wondering about the vinegar...why vinegar in cookie dough? I've never seen that before.

Vanessa said...

GRRRR! Why can't I look like that?

Mrs Furious said...

K & J,
that cookie dough recipe is from King Arthur Flour... so I don't know... but they are good.

Vanessa,
The beauty is you can look like this. And you might even be able to look better!

Katy and Joseph said...

Well, I'll report back after we make them. I have to say I'm more excited about the frozen dough than the actual cookies. I just got home from the store (had to buy corn syrup) and they had Van's Hearty Oat Maple Fusion waffles! I hadn't seen them before so I got those too. I'll be trying them for breakfast!

Mrs Furious said...

K&J
Hands down these cookies are great dough. GREAT!!!
I hope you like the waffles as much as I do :)

emmyjw said...

They better be able to fix the treadmill, I have been completely faithful with my food, strength, yoga but the cardio has been lacking due to the treadmill problem, and I am on a major plateau. I am also sorely in need of the endorphins this time of year.YOU ROCK:)

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
Oh I hope you can get it fixed! I was watching Oprah where she talked about her thyroid issues the other night and I thought of you. She was saying she has to workout harder than she ever has and that her metabolism is just totally tanked. I feel for you and Julie on that one.

Christine said...

you are doing awesomeeee! keep it up!

eurydice said...

you look pretty happy in the fat picture haha.

seriously though - it looks like way more than 21 pounds gone - you must be serious muscle!

eurydice said...

ps i didn't mean "fat" in a "fat" way...

Katy and Joseph said...

Mrs F - lordy those cookies rock. I promise not to hijack your comments again!

Mrs Furious said...

Christine,
aww Thank You ! :)

Eurydice,
Oh jeez don't clarify the "fat"... I freaking was fat! God I want to gag when I see that picture! And I thought I looked great when I posed for it!

K&J,
I'm glad you liked them. I've had great success with all the King Arthur Flour Recipes I've tried. I highly recommend their cookbooks and their website. Also I think I noted in the recipe but I've made those with whole wheat flour and they were just as good.

Julie said...

Amazing! You look frickin' great. I know you worked hard for it.

Did you ever think your blog would take on such a world of its own? You are our Bad Ass Cardio guru.

Such a great little community!

Girl, you look a-maz-ing! Mr. F is one lucky bastard!

I just tried your workout! I did 60 minutes on the treadmill ranging from 8 to a 12 incline and ranging from 4.0 to 4.5. Did you hold on while you walked our pump your arms? I found it really hard to pump my arms. Thanks and I hope this works as well for me as it did for you! Ashley

Okay! So i tried your work out, but w/ a twist. I don't have a treadmill so i was doing this on my elliptical machine. The speed isn't the same as on a treadmill, but i went at a much slower pace than i normally do, what felt like a fast-ish walk, and my incline also isn't the same. A 12 on my machine is literally IMpossible to do, i couldn't even move the friggin thing! So i did intervals of 2 mins at a 7 & 1 minute at a 4. Also i only did this for 40 mins. But i felt like i got more of a workout doing that than i ever have just doing it at a level(let's say 1 or 2) for 45-60 mins. I was sweating my butt off and also burned way more calories than my "old way". So i think from now on i'll be following your plan, thanks :)

holy wow those are some nice abs!

Mrs Furious said...

I'll be back guys. Crazy busy this morning!

Mrs Furious said...

Julie,
no I never in my life would have imagined all this!
and Thanks!

Avery Grey,
thank you :)

Linds,
Sounds like you got it figured out for yourself. That sounds good... and I'm glad you feel like it was a better workout!

Ashley,
YOU MUST LET GO. You need to slow down a little and do more of a change in your incline like 4% to 12%... you need to be able to do this without holding on so slow it down to a speed that allows you to let go. You will burn much more not holding on. That is the #1 treadmill rule!!

Mrs Furious said...

Cara,
thanks :)

HC said...

Wowsa woman! You should feel so proud to not just have motivated yourself, but this whole tribe of yours! It's amazing!

BTW, I did a sneaky simple version of the leek tart we were talking about -- sauteed leeks and goat cheese on a toasted light english muffin. So good I've been eating it for lunch the past 3 days.

I have GOT to bite the bullet and buy an elliptical (smaller footprint than a treadmill which I don't have room for) because I'm falling into a big stress hole. Time to peruse amazon...

Mrs Furious said...

Haley,
do it! get the elliptical!
