This Week The Plan

Kid is off this week. I have no idea if that is going to mean that I have more time to get stuff done since I won't be driving around as much.... or less because she is driving me crazy. My initial vote is for less so I'm trying to keep my plan pretty conservative. Baby is trying to kill me (slowly & painfully) by not only waking up 5-10 times a night but mixing in some annoying alert time in there now as well. This, my friends, is not only exhausting but is now amplifying my chronic pain issues which is wrecking havoc on my body and my mind. Honestly I'm used to the constant wakings but the alert time has got to go... ASAP... or I'll be hitting the wall any day now!

Menu:

Monday - Chicken Noodle Soup

Tuesday - Brown Sugar & Ginger Salmon w/ Asain Veggie Stirfry & Spring Rolls

Wednesday - Spaghetti & Meatballs w/ Steamed Broccoli

Thursday - Pork Tenderloin w/ Green Beans & Rice Pilaf

Friday - out

Saturday - Take-out

Sunday - Chicken Fajitas

Diet & Exercise
Last week as you know I kind of fell off the wagon a bit and had a really hard time getting my workouts in. I rallied towards the end of the week and got in a good cardio workout on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. I'm playing around with my incline and have found it to be a bit more challenging and a lot less routine. I'm planning to do 4 cardio workouts and one pilates workout this week. I'm shooting for 45 minutes but I am going to really max out my incline intervals to make these shorter workouts really pay off.

Errands & Chores

Monday - Laundry

Tuesday - vacuum & grocery shop

Wednesday - additional grocery shop

Thursday - wipe down wood floors

Friday - catch up on all returns

Hi Mrs. F -- Forgive me if I'm butting in, but I know that baby sleeps with you, and I can't help wondering if maybe she's ready for her own bed/crib? It just seems like you're hardly getting any sleep, and I know how hard that can be. I think kids can easily get into a habit, and maybe she's just in the habit of waking up more often these days. What age was Kid when you moved her to a bed?

Hang in there, Mrs. F!

Sounds like a good plan as usual! I totally agree that you will most likely get less done though, sorry ;) But from my vast experience of having kids home 24/7 I definately get less done because they always need something, wipe me, feed me, read to me,play with me,he/she took my toy, how do you do this math problem etc...This week and next are going to be a total bust for me bexause in addition to the usual craziness we have a guy here repairing plaster and painting so I have to keep them out of his way!

Hi Mary,
Oh I don't mind you saying that.
Kid was about 2 when I moved her to a separate bed in the room and then 3 when she moved to her own room.
Currently we don't have a room for the Baby. I was planning to bring up the 2nd mattress to see if I that might help. But I'm fairly certain the issue is her teething. She only has 2 teeth and is just starting to have the tips of her top teeth coming down and I think the next set is working in now too. Even if she was down the hall her crying would still wake me though. She often goes right back to sleep and is just uncomfortable (no nursing) but I am a light sleeper.

Emmy,
"But from my vast experience of having kids home 24/7 I definately get less done"
yes that is what I feared ;)

Haley,
thanks

Good plan! Oh boy, on the Baby front. Be easy on yourself...the constant wakings really mess with one's mental health. I remember!

btw, my little bitty baby 6 YEAR OLD(!!) has reverted back to infancy sleepwise...he wills himself back awake if he senses that whoever (me or Tom)is laying with him. WTF...he's got all his teeth. Way too old for this shit. I know, I know...tough love does not work with this kid. I'm hoping that I don't have to room with him in college:)

I meant to say he wills himself awake if he senses that one of us has left the bed...we tip toe out and whisper like he is a 6 month old. Crazy. Us, that is. For allowing it to continue.

Julie,
Do you know of my toy fairy sleep plan? It worked for Kid.

Mrs F and Julie,

Am feeling your pain. My two year old, formerly known as world's best sleeping child, is waking up about 3 times a week for 2 hours a night. Mama up, pease (please)...mama up pease..mama books pease. Damn it, I need my sleep. What the hell is going on. We go in there and go in there and nothing works. He just wants to play/read books. I am at a loss. What happened to my perfect child.

Angie,
He knows about your "birthday gift to him" and he's mad at you ;)

Babies are so much fun! Things can be going great and you think you have a routine down, then bam! they start waking up every half hour crying, or revert in their potty training. They like to keep us on our toes....

I don't know if you give your children pain meds at all, but if she is teething you might want to try giving her a dose of baby advil or tylenol right before bedtime.....maybe just once to help you get some rest. I think they use to give kids a shot of whiskey in the old days, can you imagine? Probably yes, I think most parents who have dealt with a screaming baby can.

BTW, I made you ginger salmon last night for dinner. My family loved it! Thanks for the great recipe.

Mrs Furious said...

Shelley,
Oh I'm really glad you guys liked it! :)

Yes I should just give her some tylenol and I'll do that tonight. It wasn't really making a difference with the regular short night crying but it might help with the waking/alert crap. Our Dr was saying that for some kids the sensation of the teeth coming in is enough to disturb sleep even without the pain... and it seems that might be the case for her. But I'll try it again tonight. Partly I just don't know it'll be a bad night until it is a bad night!

Tonight I bought a pre made (is that wrong) rotissiere chicken from Costco, they had just finished roasting, and then I had veg that I made to go with...the thing is that there is still meat on the carcass of the chicken...do we pick at it and then I boil it to use for broth??? I am about to research the use of this carcass...

I am thinking of you and hoping you get some rest, I know you need it!!!

Alright woman. I'm still waiting for the updated interval thingy. I'm up to 55 minutes varying inclines 3, 6 and 9 every 2.5 minutes. I need something else, and I'm so NOT going up to 12. I can barely survive at 9. It is starting to get easier though.

Mrs Furious said...

Kiki,
I just pick all the meat off and use it for chicken salad. We used to do the rotisserie chickens all the time. You can't even buy a chicken for what they charge and they cooked it for you!

Tina,
Okay do 3 minutes at 0 and then 1.5 minutes at the highest incline you can do and stay on... really push yourself. Then repeat. You are giving yourself a longer rest so you should be able to inch up a little past 9. Try that. I do this workout when I'm working out for a shorter time.
Another one I've been doing is this: 2.5 min at 0, 2.5 min at 7, 2.5 min at 0, 2.5 min at 8, 2.5 min at 0, 2.5 min at 9, you get the pattern I go all the way up to 12 and then repeat 12 and then reverse the pattern back down to 7 that takes an hour. You could do the same thing starting at 4 and peaking at 9.

The more I read about sleep woes and Baby, the more terrified I am. I suppose mothering instincts kick in at some point, but I really, really feel bad for you. :(

Mrs F, Toy Fairy does not work with this kid. Trust me.

It's just another phase. It too will soon pass. It's annoying, but obviously not so annoying that I am really trying to do anything about it. I feel like I just have to ride out the storm with this one:) Plus, in some ways it is a blessing...his weird sleep schedule lately has getting me to go to sleep earlier.

Hey, do you have a recipe for potato leek soup? I saw you recommend it way back, but I don't see a recipe. If so, care to share? Thanks!

Mrs Furious said...

Julie,
Here is the SOUP.
I don't know why I didn't put that in the recipes... I'll do it tomorrow.

He's not easily bribed eh?
This too shall pass....

Heather,
Oh don't worry about it. You probably feel worse for me than I do :)
My kids are just bad sleepers. Fortunately I function really well on very little sleep. I can't do much about the teething but I knew when I chose to co-sleep that I'd be sacrificing some actual sleep. And I'm okay with that.
I think tomorrow I'm going to do a sleep post... I might start a "Topical Tuesday".
