First things first:
Remember the crystal? I think I can safely say I've put this baby to the test over the past 2 months of moving & packing & heat & whatnot. It works people. It works better than the name brand deodorant/anti-perspirant that I had been using. And YES in both departments. Totally badass. Totally smell free. Totally not killing you slowly.
Secondly:
After my breakdown with Kid the other night I realized I needed to get some "me time" ASAP. So I managed to get in to get my haircut last night. On the way there I went to good old Barnes & Noble and got myself a new Amish romance novel. Believe it.
Added bonus of the night is that the hairdresser and I got along famously. I counseled her on her relationship issues... she warned me about the nighttime rapists of Asheville (great!). I think we sat around talking for a good hour after my cut and then she asked me out on a friend date! Excellent.
Third and final photo of the day:
Kid lost her second tooth. Check out that cute toothless grin!

They always look so cute when they lose their front teeth, don't they? Tori had hers out around Christmas time when she was 6, so the teeth Christmas song was really appropriate.
Where do you get that deodorant?
I got it at Whole Foods. I'm sure you can get it at any health food store though.
Mine is called "Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal"
and it is in a little plastic applicator holder. But it is just a chunk of mineral salts and any of the crystal deodorant will be the same thing and work the same.
#1. THANK.YOU. for the validation on the magic crystal deodorant. I convinced all my girlfriends to try it and with the exception of one, it was universally hated. They said it didn't work, didn't stand up to the heat, just hated it. And I have been wondering what was up, because I love it.
#2. I thought of you yesterday when I saw a shirt that said, "What happens at Rumspringa, stays at Rumspringa."
#3. Those are some darned cute little girls.
HicktownDiva,
Oh God... I need that shirt!!!
nighttime rapists of Asheville OMG, this is getting funnier and funnier...well, not for you. Sorry I should not laugh at you;)
That is fantastic about the friend date! You will have to tell us all about it.
Oh yeah, there is a new book out that I think you will find interesting. I saw a book review for it and it got high marks. Here is the name:
The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff
It is a FLDS book--intertwining a modern day murder mystery with a historical saga.
Does the crystal deoderant really keep you dry? I'll check it out if it does.
Julie,
this is how it went:
hairstylist "where did you park?"
me "oh just a couple blocks from here... why?"
hs "well just be careful"
me "seriously?... of what?"
hs "there have been a lot of rapes at night"
me "what the fuck"
hs "I'd walk you to your car... but... then I'd have to walk back"
me "oh that's fine"
hs "just act tough"
me "I always do"
Oh and Yes it keeps me dry. And I'm not naturally ulta dry ;)
I'll be checking into that book ;)
Such a sweet picture of the girls! Total cuties!
Kat,
thanks... they were taking pictures of themselves on my computer.
Awesome update. I went to go find the name of that deodorant when I was out last time, and forgot. Next time for sure.
Also awesome about the friend date!! FUN!!!
How's the calorie counting going? No/yes?
Oh shit! You are definately made of tougher stock than I .. I would have been out of there like a shot after the rapist comment on top of the gun shops, pitbulls, rats and various other riff raff. Oy.
I've been trying the spray version of the crystal deoderant, and I haven't had much luck with it. Maybe it's got to be "the rock." I'll try it and compare.
Heather,
ah it's going well. I'm down 2 pounds and 1% body fat. Not bad considering I haven't been able to workout at all due to my complete lack of break at night. This needs to change next week or someone is going to die! ;)

Hi,
I have been following your blog for awhile & love it. Sorry for not commenting before.
How do I join the food diary blog?
I am trying to lose a few pounds too. (My weight and fat percentage is almost the exact same as you!).
Thanks!
glad to hear things are going better! yay for your friend date!!

Torey,
Oh I hope you can work out it so that we can see you guys!
Awww... Kid is really growing quickly. She looks beautiful in that photo, and Baby is a dolly, as usual.
Rapists. Awesome.
Hi Mrs. F,
I saw your link on Kiki's blog and have been sitting her watching your videos for like an hour! I love your blog...you are hilarious!
I'll be back for sure!
Deb, You are freaking hilarious!!!
Okay, I'll try the deoderant...but if I sweat or smell its right back to the Alzheimer's inducing, aluminum filled stuff for me. I hate wet pits and even worse is any kind of smell...ICK!
Those girls are too precious for words...hope she made bank for those teeth, she's got school to save up for!!!
Kiki,
I swear to you it works. I have made Mr F smell into the epicenter of my pits (more than once!... and you know I would) and there is NO smell. It's awesome. Plus no more deodorant buildup on clothes!
Teresa,
Oh thanks :)
I have a grandmother who swears by the crystal!!
Where did you end up getting your hair done? I was at !
Barnes & Noble yesterday too !! I love that place!
I am off to the tailgate market and Earth Fare.
Supermom,
I don't know where the tailgate market is?! I know there is one by us on Wed but where is the one on Saturday?
I ended up going to Aubergine after seeing a woman with nearly my exact haircut. It turned out pretty well.
We're off to Warren Wilson to their farm... Mr F was just out there shooting it for the magazine and they have newborn piglets. Can't miss that kind of cuteness ;)
There is one every saturday at unca.
Aww, baby pigs are adorable.
I hope you have a lovely weekend.
Michelle
I just wanted to throw it out there that I got my Naturally Fresh Deodorant Crystal right at good ol' CVS, if a Whole Foods isn't near you...
Have you read "Plain Truth" by Jodi Picoult? I absolutely love her books and that one happens to be about the Amish :)
Yea for the friend date. I'm jealous as my "friend making skills" seem to be lacking.
wooooo hooooo, good deter, great haircut, new friend and still amazingly cute kids. You are a lucky lady :0)
