In The Jungle The Mighty Jungle

I just got done putting Baby Furious to sleep.
Putting her to sleep is like being mauled by a lion....
Any of you co-sleepers know exactly what I am talking about. Let me tell you this seventeen pound baby can kick your ass! For those of you who don't know putting a baby down when you co-sleep often involves laying in bed pretending you are asleep while they crawl all over you, kick you in the gut, kneel on your boob (ouch!!... mini mammogram!) and pull your hair with their tiny but powerful death grip that no amount of prying open will release without pulling a handful of your hair out with it... or tonight's beauty sinking those tiny baby nails (why are babies' nails like razor blades?!?!) into my ear and gripping on to it for her life... it felt like it was being severed from my head!!! After I finally pried her off my head she rolled over and growled with her pacie in her mouth sideways... sounding exactly like a baby lion. She followed this by taking her pacie out and scraping it against the wall 20 million times (incidentally this is shockingly loud like the sound of a shovel being scraped across concrete) until she finally snuggled up to me and went to sleep.

Oh the things we do for love!

hilarious (sorry), we go through it too. We still put Jake down that way. He doesn't really hurt us anymore. Well, except when he's poking my eyeball, playing with my hair, or trying to put his ba-ba (pacie) in my mouth. He loves to test if you're really sleeping. He also loves to find little noises, like tapping or kicking something.
And Brian's little razor nails usually cut my face at least once a week, usually when he's cuddling in to me in bed.

And even when you don't co-sleep. Since the very beginning, we had both kids in their rooms. The trouble is, my older daughter has been scared of the dark since she was a tiny baby. It was ok when she was a baby, because she was trapped in the crib and would fall asleep after a little crying. But once she was out of the crib and in the toddler bed? We'd lie down on the floor next to her bed for what seemed like forever and then very, very quietly sneak out. She's nearly 12 now and still slept with her 8 year old sister until last year.

Oh we are all about trying to get the girls to sleep together as soon as possible!! Ruby has her own room/bed... that took three years... I don't really mind time flies...but we still have to sit in her room until she falls asleep. Hopefully sharing a room or bed might help... or maybe that is wishful thinking!

That's was our big plan also. As soon as Brian is old enough and "could hold his own" in a bed with Jake we're thinking of trying it. Maybe Jake wouldn't "visit" us every night. However, Brian is taking to the crib, so now i'm not sure. Maybe he'll end up being our sleeper. But, I'm saying that while I'm up at 5:41am (really, since 4:20) playing with "sleeper".
Oh, well, someday they'll sleep, right?

I just noticed that you were up now! Yikes for you! Charlotte is more consistent and despite the pain involved goes to bed within about 20 mins at night, whereas Ruby sometimes took hours! I read in some book somewhere that at 18 months they can sleep together. I'll have to see since Ruby outweighs Charlotte by quite a bit!

Yikes, ladies. You must be tired! Sometimes I secretly want to snuggle up and sleep with Finn, but I love that we can lay him down wide awake at night. He needs his little routine, but he puts himself to sleep, thank god. He says, "Good Night. See you in a little while. In the morning. I love you." Same thing every night! If he wakes in the night, though, Tim has to be the one to lay him back down. And he'll go right back to sleep with no protest. But NOT for ME! If I go in at, say, 2:00, I am stuck in there for 30-60 minutes most times. Because he knows I will crumble if he cries. I do appreciate the fact that he goes down on his own and I'm sure that will make life easier for us when #2 comes along. (No--not pregnant, just thinking ahead!)
