Mrs F Suffers A Crippling Setback

Mrs F has a few problems... and they are not all mental ;)
I happen to suffer from chronic pain resulting from Rheumatoid Arthritis and Fibromyalgia.. not too mention a bad back, broken rib, shoulder spurs, waa, waa, waaah. Anyway that is my life and for the most part I can get through my days without too much thought about it. But I have this weird thing that happens in my shoulder that effects a nerve that runs down my arm and into my hand. It is crippling. I feel like my hand is broken and can't put any weight on it, or I don't know... open baby food jars, unbuckle carseats, open my goddamn sparkling water, drive the car, carry the baby, etc, etc. But don't worry about me it is just my RIGHT hand .. and yeah you guessed it I'm right handed.
Sooo typing hurts. This thing usually spontaneously heals.. I just don't know when. Until then no long thoughtful posts.

I will, however, leave you with this....

When I was shopping yesterday I saw Marshmallow Fluff in the baking aisle. Believe it or not I have never had Fluff. With parents slaughtering their own food I guess that might come as no surprise;) Anyway when I saw it I had to have it. I figured it would be great on my nightly hot cocoa. When Mr F saw it ...after he got over his astonishment... he immediately started jonesing for a Fluffernutter. So I opened that baby up tonight and fixed myself one. I had my misgivings since there is no way to spread marshmallow all over a piece of bread and think.... "mmm this is dinner!" In fact it boggles my mind that anyone's mother would ever serve them this as anything other than a dessert!

Now maybe in order to really enjoy a Fluffernutter you need to eat it on white bread and not whole wheat double fiber bread... cause let me tell you I wasn't impressed. I actually threw it out.

But this....

This was good!

I really feel for you. I know that these sudden flare ups are horrible and then depressing because you can't do for yourself very well. When my carpal tunnel flares up, Chris has to fasten my bra, button my pants, tie my shoes, etc. It's humiliating. On top of the pain. Do you take good medications?

You had a deprived childhood :)

When Mr F saw it I think he was fairly astonished and immediately started jonesing for a Fluffernutter.

Fluffernutter sandwiches are a gift from the heavens. Of course, you do have to be a peanut butter fan. I grew up with them and my girls love them. Sometimes I'll give in and let them take that in their lunchbox as their sandwich.

It doesn't matter. The bread is merely a conduit for the fluffernutter goodness.

I actually threw it out.

You blaspheme!

Yeah this is actually very much like carpal tunnel.. I had then when pregs with Kid... except the hand braces don't help (they did then) since it is actually steming from my shoulder. I don't think I can take meds since I'm breastfeeding.

Mr F had a bite of my sandwich and thought I put too much peanut butter on mine. It wasn't worth the calories to me. I did just have some in my hot cocoa though!

Ok. So this post totally made me feel like an ungrateful little snot. And pretty wussy. I can barely handle a hangnail (not kidding).

But onto the Fluff: I bought it for the first time a couple of years ago when I was making fudge. yummm. And While I'm a little scared of what Michelline will say, I've never even hear of a "Fluffernutter."

Okay, I just asked my husband and HE knew what one was. Now I'm feeling really out of it.

Mrs F bought the Kraft™ Marshmallow Creme (or whatever) not actual Fluff™. Of course they are exactly the same thing, but if it was the real Fluff™ it would have a big ole picture of a Fluffernutter on the back (or they did when I was a kid), and if I recall it showed PB and Fluff literally dripping out the sides...

I think it needs white bread just to complete the trashy, completely non-healthy total package. I will try one on the wheat this weekend, and do a better job with the filling ratio.

Eating Fluff on a prentzel* rod is fucking disgusting.

*Prentzel (n) - How Kid Furious says "pretzel." Her unique mispronounciations will really be missed as she grows up...

Katieo,

Didn't you say you grew up in MI? Maybe this is a Michigan thing, not having heard of Fluffernutters. I didn't find out about them until I moved to the East Coast. Or maybe our parents shielded us from the nastiness of eating dessert toppings on bread ;)

Did you even try it wuss boy?

Eating marshmallow creme on anything is ok. I'd try it on celery! Hell, I even lick the knife. I know, I'm pathetic.

LOL! I can't hold ignorance against you.

That's why I asked you where you found it at the store. Last time I bought it (in NY?) I had to find it in the ice cream aisle by the hot fudge, etc.

mmmm...fluffernutters
nobody out here in CA has ever heard of them either. I once brought some out here from home and my roommates had loved fluffernutters.
I disagree with Mr. F, the real stuff is slightly better. It has a more whipped texture I think.

I had the nerve/wrist thing while pregnant and after. I went to physical therapy and they soaked it in hot wax and massaged. It helped, it went away eventually on it's own though.

God that sounds good! if only....

yeah this was "Jet Puffed".. it is really thick.. almost difficult to spread w/o tearing the bread.

It's usually in the baking aisle here. Maybe because it's used for fudge?

BTW - I think I hate you right now. Now I want a marshmallow creme sandwich. sigh.

That's alright I've been hated for much worse ;)

Yeah, that's tough sometimes. You want her to grow up, but you do miss the cute kid that she used to be, especially when she's a moody 11 year old.
