Shhhh.... Don't Tell Kid

Here is what Kid is getting for her Fifth Birthday

This cool... okay cool might be the wrong word... birthday ring.

Some new Calvin & Hobbes books and surprise surprise a Mythology book

Oh and this. Kid LOVES these figurines at the Hallmark store... and I'm not gonna lie I'm fond of them my own self!

Don't cry for her... she has received plenty of glittery plastic already and I'm sure there is more to come!

Don't EVER feel bad about giving books as presents! Those are the best presents of all because those are the ones that let the imagination run wild. These are the presents that give the entire world to children. And they don't have any lead paint on them :)

Happy Birthday, Kid!

Katieo,
I covet that nativity set. In fact Kid is SO into Jesus and nativity sets that I was thinking of getting it for me... I mean... her.

I gave my mom the mother-daughter figurine for her 60th birthday. She cried -- I was proud. Love their stuff.

Ooh--good to know she's into Willow Tree. I love those. We have a bunch of 'em and I have given them as gifts to many. Maybe she'd like one for Christmas this year? (Is that her first one? Just so I don't buy a duplicate, let me know.) Books are THE BEST! You know what's cool? I lucked out and ended up finding a few of my favorite kids' books from my own childhood in my parents' basment. It's so fun to show them to Finn and tell him "This was Mommy's favorite book when I was a little girl." (I found one recently that was particularly funny. King Midas and the Golden Touch. It was the first time my mom ever let me order from a Scholastic catalogue--I was supremely jealous by then of all the other kids getting their loot when the Scholastic orders arrived at school. I was a major book nerd as a kid and this was like a dream come true. Plus it came with a little 45 record that narrated the story to me. I tried to get Finn to pick that book for bedtime last night but he turned me down. "Maybe when I'm older I'll read that one." DOH!)

Heather,

I have the mother-daughter one sitting right here next to my computer. I think Mr F gave me that for a mother's day sometime. I too love it.

Eileen,

oh she's into it. I have no idea how much the separate nativity figures are, but if you got one I could get her some of the others...we'll talk!
