Well the blogpshere is a buzz with New Year's Resolutions. As you know it doesn't take much to entice Mrs F into list making of any kind so I'm jumping in too.
I've been thinking on this subject for quite some time and hoped to really blow you all away with my stellar resolutions. Although it should be noted that New Year's Resolutions are something I have typically not been able to stick to in the past. They have historically been just another highly detailed list with arbitrary deadlines that gets lost in the back of my desk drawer only to be found 2 years later and laughed at. Daily crossword puzzle anyone?
What are you all trying to change in 2008? What is worthy enough to make your resolution list this year? MommyTime is trying to come up with attainable resolutions. Danielle is going to try and work at being satisfied with what she already has... and Heather is planning to master Norwegian for crying out loud. I don't really know what to do or say or commit to.
Last year saw the birth of Baby followed by a 68 pound weight loss. I managed to stay committed to both calorie counting and exercise.. and heck it wasn't even a New Year's Resolution. Maybe that's why it worked? Anyway here I am one year later. For once in my adult life losing weight isn't my goal. Can you believe it? Sometimes I can't. Seriously this is the FIRST time EVER I haven't wanted to drop 5-10 pounds. So what do I want to do? And is making a resolution the best way to accomplish it anyway? What exactly kept me motivated to lose the weight last year and how can I replicate that with say.... organization or cleaning?
Stay tuned.

Wow!!! 2007 brought me a baby too but no 68 lb weight loss. That is amazing--congratulations!!!!
Happy New Year!
My resolution is to start working on that weight loss thing. again.
Hey thanks for commenting!
Yeah I gained 52 with the pregnancy (1/31 birth) and then I've actually lost all that and an additional 16 lbs below my pre-pregs weight now. Crazy. It took me a full year just to reach my pre-pregs weight after my first kid... but I never tried actually exercising that time!
Good luck!
I, too, am contemplating resolutions for the first time in years, but I'm trying to decide whether I'm considering because I'm really committed to change this time or because it's good schtick for the blog.
Hmm. Do you have any fitness goals? Like do pilates 3x a week or run a race? How about cut out sugar?
Thanks for the shout out!
Deb,
I wouldn't know anything about that ;)
Heather,
yeah I'm trying to come up with a good long term fitness goal. I'm not going to run unless being chased... so I've got to think about how best to measure my commitment and or physical fitness. I do think I'm going to shoot for 18% body fat this year... and that should keep my going for quite a while.
and you know I want to learn Norwegian my own self! ;)
Good goal -- I have no doubt you'll do it, weight loss guru that you are!
Here's our first Norwegian lesson: Many Thanks = Tusen Takk
It literally translates as Thousand Thanks.
Fun, right?
Heather,
Alright I'm going to get the coloring book Norwegian book.. tell me what it is called. Then I'll write my comments to you in Norwegian... and send you Norwegian YouTube videos! It would help if I had a husband who actually was Norwegian so I could master the right accent... but baby steps.
#1 18% body fat
#2 learn Norwegian... and yes I am completely serious
Seriously? No seriously?
Here's the link: http://www.amazon.com/NORWEGIAN-minutes-day®-CD-ROM-Minutes/dp/1931873089/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1199152180&sr=8-1
This is gonna be awesome. The great thing about learning Norwegian is Danish and Swedish are soooo close that it's like learning 3 languages in 1!
Well, how about some fun resolutions? I REALLY needed to make some time for me -- and the blog is certainly helping in that regard, but I could do more. Maybe you could go for an art class or some resolution that would be all about you (way more about you than just a blueberry muffin!)
Okay, it's new year's eve. I am at mommytime's house on my 4th glass of wine, so i might be over optimistic regarding my resolutions:
1) in order to not have my husband divorce or kill me, stop being so disorganized. Like Mr. F control the ADD and focus on one task at a time and not bop from task 1 to task 2 before completely finishing task 1.
2) Get back on track and to exercising 5 times a week and eating better (i can do it, have done it for months. then tried to get pregnant and stopped exercising as much) especially in terms of he transfat (getting rid of them, which means eliminating my french fry obsession. thank god doritos don't have transfat).
3) God willing, get pregnant and have a baby. I really need that baby.
4) Stay in Ann Arbor and live near Mrs. Furious (which is actually harder than it sounds with job offers in Atlanta and potentially in my husband's home town).
Happy New Year everyone.
mommytime,
Sorry.. your link had a typo in the code that is why it wasn't going through. All fixed.
Tomorrow I will post all 151 resolutions!
And.... YES... this year they are going to be about me enjoying my life more and not trying to wash my towels more often!
Heather,
so I told Mr F and he was like "why Norwegian?" and I was like cause it brings me one step closer to being a pioneer woman (trust me it does).
plus you know of my over all Scandanvian obsession and as you say "The great thing about learning Norwegian is Danish and Swedish are soooo close that it's like learning 3 languages in 1!"... precisely. My number dream vacation is taking a cruise around Scandanvia in about 3 years... so I should be fluent by then!
I am completely serious. What's the point of learning Swedish if I can't actually practice it... I'm going to capitalize on this opportunity while I can try and use it!
Angie,
those sound great.... and achievable!
Heather
I ordered it!
but I am cheap so I'm getting it with the super saver shipping.
Sounds like 2007 was hard to beat for Mrs. F! But your monster weight loss is inspiring to me. Hopefully, my next year's resolution, will include NOT losing weight...
Danielle,
"Hopefully, my next year's resolution, will include NOT losing weight."
having been there I can say that YOU CAN DO IT... you really can! :)
