Mrs F's fashion quest continues...
Well I bought these a few months ago. And when I got home I didn't like them so I've had them in the bag ready to return ever since. Now it is possible I've lost some weight since then because I tried them on this morning and I didn't think they were so bad. My issue with them is that they are a little big in the thigh for me and that the waist is cut kind of swoopy giving me a little gap in the back. The major plus for these pants is that the pockets disguise a pretty up & down flat ass. Also they were only $20 (surprise, surprise). I should note that these have a bootcut and a pretty sizable break. I'm leaving the tags on for now since my major pants issue is that pants that seemingly *fit* in the morning I can literally pull off while zipped and buttoned by the end of the day...

Nay! Go at least one size down. You've got sag ass in these pictures.
Admiringly,
Heather
They are too big and you have such a cute little figure show it off! Try the next size down like Heather suggested.
see? this is exactly why I post these pictures! I seem to have some type of a hard time believing I should actually be buying a 2.. but clearly I need to. thank god I left the tags on.. and if you thought I sag ass in those pics you should see them now!
i thought they looked comfortable but that's probably not the look you're going for. don't you hate how jeans stretch like that? i haven't found a brand that don't do it. they sort of make you feel fat by the end of the day because they're just hanging there - bugs me.
p.s. i'm still super-motivated by you. you are now the size i was when i got pregnant. congratulations! i am GOING TO get back there. my favorite part was beign able to wear whatever i wanted in my closet knowing it would fit and look good! i loved that EVERY SINGLE DAY!
amy,
yep it's the stretching problem. I feel like I have to buy jeans that feel tight at the store to have them end up the right size once I've worn them around for a few hours... but of course that makes me nervous... so I always end up buying the pair that fit in the store.
You can do it!
I'm with the rest of 'em--buy smaller jeans. They are not doin' it for you. You are a freakin' size 2!! How crazy is that? Have you ever tried Gap's slim fit jeans? You may need ankle length, but they may look nice. They're not "skinny" jeans; I think you can still get boot cut or some other versions, but they may flatter your body better. Of course, I am not one to ask, as I have not bought new jeans in at least 2 years. Cuz I am NOT a size 2. I am at my fattest these days and refusing to buy anything bigger than what I have. Oh, don't get me started...(Oh--I don't think you should get these same jeans in size 2. I don't really think these jeans are going to look that good--those pockets are not my favorite. And if you spent $100 on a bathing suit, surely you can shell out for some killer jeans. You will wear them way more and you will never look back if you find the right pair. With your body, you could rock the house!!) Incidentally--do your boobs deflate after you stop breastfeeding? My boobs are so much worse now and I was so disappointed. I always had it in my head that I'd have bigger, better boobs after babies and instead they are smaller and flimsier! Just wondering...
I think these are not the jeans for you. I would suggest going to a higher end store and getting some expensive jeans. It's worth the money.
ahh.. the gap slim fits were my perfect jean. They no longer make them. :( These were actually the closest I could find to that fit. Very hard for me to get the right rise in a pant. I will keep trying. I did/do like the Calvin Klein ones I got they are just too big.
I answered your boob ? in the bathing suit post. But yeah they deflate and for some people they really deflate. Mine were never as perky as pre-baby but they did stay bigger.
Try the Gap Long and Lean jeans. I love them. They come in both Ankle and Petite sizes (I am only 5' tall and both work for me.) You could buy a bunch in different sizes online ($6 shipping for the entire order) and return what you don't want at your local Gap store. They range in price from $50 to $60...kind of a good mid range price. I wear the hell out of them with having 2 boys and they still look great.
Oh, yes! Do try the long+lean jeans from Gap. I forgot--that is the more recent version that I had some luck with. Before I got chubby again! That short window of time after losing most of my baby-weight before sadly gaining back 10-12 more of flab?!? Do try those!
Gap slim fits?
It's a little risky, but I've gotten them on Ebay before. for cheap.
Well, I am glad to see so many people recommend the Gap for so many reasons...if I were the person helping you in my store I would give you a pair in every fit, walk you back to the fitting room and stay with you while you try them on and get you extra sizes until you were happy. Since I am not sure what kind of service you get at the Gap near you, I would say you should try the Bootcut and Classic fit. Classic has a bootcut leg, but a mid rise, and Bootcut has the same essential fit but a lower rise. The mid rise can help with gapping at the waistband..but that is a problem a lot of women face. Also, Gap jeans do stretch with wear so buy them fitted (a little) and make sure you have room for shrinkage at the bottom because you can expect 1/2 in. to an inch in shrink with washing and drying. Oh, you could try the straight fit, but the heiney part might be a problem if you don't have one.
Was this too much??? Hope not, I just want to help...see I can't help working even when I'm not at work!!
Alright, I want to go to your Gap, Kiki. Excellent fashion service via the web!
Most definitely too big.
And yo...go to Kiki's Gap!
katieo,
EBAY! I'm going to try and hunt 'em down!
Kiki,
no not too much. lets just say that is not what happened when I went to the Gap. I did try every jean and wasn't happy... but that was several months ago and my stomach is less of an issue.. I'll go and try it again. At 5'3" there is always room at the bottom.. even with the short jeans!
Everyone else.. I'll go to the Gap.. don't worry!
This is in response to your Christmas Tree problem. Our tree went up on Saturday right in front of Mackenzie's window. (She just turned 1) I figured she would be drawn to the tree instantly and would try her best to get to the window. Surprisingly, she has only been to it twice. I tell her no and show her no in sign language (they do this at daycare) and she smiles and goes about her business.
return them!
yeah.. somehow in real life they didn't look as bad as they do here.. I guess because I'm looking down on them and here at butt level.. not so good
Shay Belle,
ours is up and she's not messing with it too much.. although it isn't decorated yet. We'll see...
You definitely need to go one size down. They'll be a little tight in the morning, but you'll be able to wear them for several days in a row. Like the pair I'm currently sporting which have not been washed in... ohhh... I don't know how long. To be honest, I kind of dread washing them, because they fit so perfectly right now, and I'm not really up for the humiliation of trying to squeeze into them again. Perhaps I should be the one working out.
Try J. Crew's jeans. I have no hips and a small waist, and their slim fit jeans fit great. I love Joe jeans, too (and that's what I'm currently wearing for the 54th straight day), but they're a little spendy.
"but you'll be able to wear them for several days in a row"
and you know that is the way I wear them!
I'm going to go to JCrew to try them on.. but I don't have a small waist, just small hips... that's a lot of the problem
Don't sweat it. The waistbands gap like a mofo on me, and I have to have them altered.
beginning to feel strange posting about this again, and there are times that Gap jeans don't work, but we do make them in an ankle length so they are good if you are petite...also, there is a chance that our jeans won't be right for you (perish the thought) in which case the Jcrew jeans are usually a good alternate and if you want to pay through the nose you can try Seven for Mankind. But I repeat its like tuition at a private school for a pair of those. Ok, no more, I swear!!
Kiki,
no worries!
I am going to go back to the Gap.. I think the problem is we have a small mall and we don't have all the merchandise at our mall so I'm going to go up to the bigger mall when I get a chance (most likely after xmas ... since I'm not crazy) and I think I'll have an easier time finding something.
Find a manager to help you or a good sales associate...I've enjoyed this back and forth, I love clothes and helping people find what is right for them is something that gives me joy!!! Hope you find the perfect jean!!
Kiki,
Believe me... when I find it I will let you all know! :)
