Interesting....

So what you are saying is that I have to actually write something for you to be engaged over here.

Hmm... okay... I'm putting a poll up on my sidebar.

Last week's joke post started me thinking. Then after talking with a friend it appears that everyone wants to know one thing about everyone else. So check out the poll. It's anonymous so feel free to submit your truthful answers.... ONE time only please... don't go skewing the answers. The poll is now a two part poll... on the second poll please check all answers that apply to yourself and your family.
I will be very interested in the results.

I love your videos AND your written posts, note that I am commenting now between patients because I stopped home to make coffee.I just plain like you! You are funny and real and such a complete badass. I think the survey will be interesting.I have 4 kids, only 1 of which was actually planned...hey,sex is cheaper than going to the movies;)

I love the videos too! Especially the ones you've done on your weight loss and exercise - they have been very motivating!!!

If I hadn't found your blog I'd still be stuck thinking I could never lose all the weight post-kids, not really. You've made me believe that I may just be able to (and possibly even go further!!)

Interesting poll...

Mrs Furious said...

Thank You :)
Of course you were commenting anyway!
Turns out I had tons of free time on my hands today and I kept checking the comments for a little conversation... and NOTHING!!! Of course on the days when I'm time strapped I can't keep up.

Oh I am VERY interested to see the results. I wish I could have made it even more specific since not everyone is married with kids, etc.

I'm about to have my evening coffee myself.
Are you always on weekend nights?

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
the above was to you... obviously.

Emily,
thank you. I'm really happy that people are relating to my weight loss story and feeling motivated by it. Keep it up! I'm just about to go get on the treadmill myself.

ok, you know how much i LOVE you, but i will admit, i sometimes don't watch the vid if i don't have time...so i vote for more writing. otherwise there is a chance i will miss something.

Mrs Furious said...

Feener,
I hear you. I know. I feel like I've got to put up something up EVERY day and truthfully it is so much easier for me to do a video then write and edit and all that. Plus it is just plain FUN for me.. but I'm going to try and reel that back in.

Anonymous said...

I voted. Truthfully.

I like both the videos and the written posts. I haven't been able to watch the videos today because the kiddo is always around, and if he sees me on your blog, he will want to see Baby dance. I need to be able to sneak on your blog. :)

I didn't watch the videos while the kids were napping because hubby is home and well...let's just say I was busy doing something related to your poll. ;) Sorry for the TMI, but I couldn't resist.

I am going to watch the videos now.

Mrs Furious said...

Tina,
I would expect nothing less.

I wish I had made two polls one for married w/kids and one for no kids. Next time.

Mrs Furious said...

Robin,
LOL!
You've got to fit that in when you can... certainly feel free to watch/not watch the videos at your leisure!

Mrs Furious said...

Hey guys!!!

I've added a sub poll so if you already answered PLEASE go answer the sub poll too.

Anonymous said...

Hey. I usually read your blog from work and can't really watch the videos there. And at home, my laptop sometimes has sound and sometimes doesn't. Stupid thing. So I tend to not watch the movies. But I read every post.
I did both polls.

Heather said...

I enjoyed the videos!! I really did. I can't watch at work without my headphones (which I didn't have this week), but I managed to watch the Keepin It Real one anyway, the sound turned down very quietly.

Anyway, I say 60/40 writing/video. The videos are always entertaining -- and people she looks/sounds/acts JUST like this in person.

MommyTime said...

Love the poll -- very curious about the results. You should put a note on the second one to make sure people know that you can check more than one box.

Unrelated, check this out, which I wrote with you in mind -- technology AND Norwegian in the same post. :)

I work every other fri-sat-sun and am usually out seeing patients from 4pm-10pm or so and I am on call from 4pm-8am all three days for patients with problems, sometimes lots of calls, sometimes none.I only completely hate it this time of year when I get a middle of the night call and have to go out in the freezing cold.

Mrs Furious said...

MommyTime,
once I post it they won't let me edit the stupid poll... I've thought of several things I would add/change!

okay I'm going to go check it out!!

YES... PEOPLE.... the sub poll allows you to check all the apply.... DO IT!

Michelline/Heather and Everyone Else
yes during the week I will ALWAYS try and give the talking points if I post a video. Weekends it depends on how stupid the videos are ;) I can't very well give the talking points of say the "donkey kick" and whatnot.
I am going to try and keep the videos for the days when I just don't have time to write a full post and/or the video illustrates something in the kitchen etc.
But for you video lovers I'll keep posting new ones over in the sidebar section.... because I CANNOT stop shooting them. Seriously.

Emmy,
I wanted to go back for my RN after I had Kid (I applied and everything) just so I could work a schedule like yours. Still might do it later if Mr F's situation doesn't improve. Social Work jobs are not all that high paying nor are the schedules very flexible... plus I'm a clinician and the licensing in MI is really not friendly compared to literally every other state so I'm fairly disgruntled about it. In fact I have to start doing cont ed just to keep my license up and I might as well just start taking nursing classes. Sadly since my degrees are not in science I'd have to take almost every class....

Nutmeg said...

So glad kid is feeling better!

We've had a little medical meltdown here with stat chest x-rays and visits to pediatric pulmonologists in our future (not nearly the real emotional roller coasters you have had).

Love videos and posts equally. Sometimes if there is a video I have to come back and watch later. Your videos actually remind so much of myself etc that it's honestly reassuring to know someone else is out there.

emmyjw said...

yeah,my schedule is pretty much made for our family, plus I am salaried at 48hrs/pay ,benefits and everything. My friend works in psych ER as a MSW (UofM)she works a couple of 10's every week. I don't know what she gets paid but she likes the job.Where would you take classes?

MommyTime said...

Even though you can't change the poll, you can edit the title to that "item" on the page...just a thought...

So glad Kid is better!

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
I might look into working at the hospital feel like those positions don't turn over very often but you never know and I'm certain they don't pay as well as the RNs working evening & weekend shifts.
If I did the classes for the RN I'd be doing them at WCC Mr F works there and I can go for free (which almost makes up for his horrible pay).

Nutmeg,
I am so sorry to hear about E. What is going on? Is this at all related to the night wakings? And please everyone's health issues warrant their own emotional roller coaster. Hell I allowed myself to get completely freaked out about a cold! Stress is stress.... and unknown stress is very hard. Does it help that your husband is a Dr?... I always think that would be reassuring.

Mrs Furious said...

MommyTime,
what are you saying?
I can't change anything about the poll not even the title once a vote has been cast they freeze it.
I guess I could add a text to the sidebar above the polls.... I'll go do that.

emmyjw said...

Nolan and I took a semester at WCC when Rainee was little, general ed stuff,we applied to their program but the wait was long and I got into nursing school at KVCC in kalamazoo and Nolan got into KCC in battle creek so we moved back to the west side of the state to go to school.I know that in the psych ER they just lost a couple of people, might be worth a try? But you can't beat free school!

Amy said...

i'm addicted to the videos. but i do find myself commenting less for some reason. but maybe i'm commenting the same amount...i can't keep track.

Mrs Furious said...

Amy,
People definitely comment less to the videos. I think the written word is more compelling to answer back to and the videos are taken in more like you would a show. I'm still going to do them but clearly if I want a conversation happening in the comments I need to write a post instead. I mean I didn't even have to write more than a few sentences and I've gotten more of a response than to the 3 videos I had up all day. I have found this to be an interesting experiment. Maybe I seem less available when I do the videos?

MommyTime said...

In the title for the poll, where you have "Sub Poll for those who answered the above poll," just add "(check all that apply)." Though you can't change the poll plug-in, I'm assuming you can edit that title by editing that sidebar element. (I could be wrong here; if so, sorry...)

Mrs Furious said...

MommyTime,
No you can't even change the title. They freeze the whole page element I can either keep as is or remove. I tried that. But I did put some text above the polls and added that info into the post. So lesson learned this is another weird Blogger quirk. If you do a poll on your blog think it through really carefully before you post it! And during the making of the poll it had me chose "check all that apply" as a choice which I did and then that bit of text they don't publish... and of course it looked like it was part of the damn poll!

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
Oh the free school part is definitely a draw! I they are even doing some MSW continuing ed stuff there so that is a big savings since those weird little courses are several hundred bucks and you need to do quite a few a year.

emmyjw said...

I will tell you my answers if it will ease your blogger frustration:)I look like a major dork right now, commenting on my laptop with my work laptop in my lap,2 computers at once, how cool am I?

MommyTime said...

And, yet again, here we are with, "why didn't those idiots ask me before they built this?"... -sigh- Thanks for the warnings; I'll keep that in mind if I ever have enough readers to poll ;).

Oh, and remember: you only have 28 minutes till bedtime. :)

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
LOL... I think I know your answers! I think by the end of the week I'm not going to be able to make any quantifiable numbers out of them.... but I really wish I hadn't put the "what? I don't know what you are talking about" choice on there since now I'm like so does that mean "not at all" or "I'm being funny" or "every 6 months"... since that is getting the majority of votes!

emmyjw said...

I was actually torn because I felt like several was too much but it is usually 2 times a week...TMI! and we have been married 11 years, together for 15, kids are 14,8,5,and 3. Nolan works 3-4 12-14 hour shifts a week, sometimes more and you know my schedule. There you have it,my so called life :)

Nutmeg said...

Well... I'm sort of laid back and having my husband as a doctor makes him sort of laid back. E.'s lips turn blue now and then (a couple of times a day for just a few minutes at a time, and unrelated to being cold). This could be totally normal. We basically just chilled about that. Ever since he started at daycare and started getting colds (so last march, when he was three months old) he's had a pretty nearly constant cough. I guess knowing that the Dr in the house had listened to his lungs and my pediatrician friend listened to his lungs had us let it go at the beginning when he was 4 mos old or so... and he just kept having the cough. Finally he got a fever at a 6 months we ended up actually going to the doctor about it and he had some severe wheezing and we started with nebulizing him.

Fast forward to now. We go to get our second flu shot for him, and I mention the blue lip thing.. in light of his poor weight gain and E.'s got some crackles and some wheezes, we are off to get chest x-rays, a second medicine to nebulize him with, a decongestant, an antibiotic and an appointment for the pulmonolgist at the local children's hospital.

He's NEVER slept well and some of it was probably the reflux as a littler baby getting him into the habit of waking up all the time, but he definitely wakes himself up at night coughing. He coughs every 5 minutes or so... so if he only wakes up 10% of the time, it's still ALL the time.

Anyway. That's where we are at right now. I'm sure there's nothing really wrong with him, but the true pessimist/realist in me likes to keep in mind the really bad thing that could be wrong... JUST in case we get smacked with that possibility. As I said... having the doctor husband is nice as a grown up, but he knows diddly about kids and also, probably under-reacts.

BTW... kid was absolutely amazingly adorably cute all pathetic on the couch today. Can't wait until E. can have conversations with me.

Nutmeg said...

and I said, "I don't even know what you are talking about" and I wasn't being funny!

As previously mentioned. Waking every 20-1 hour, isn't conducive to "making sexy time"

Mrs Furious said...

Emmy,
LOL! Two counts as several BELIEVE ME! I'm surprised how many votes are going to the "what" choice. I am now obsessively checking the poll stats every couple of minutes... I need to take my unisom and go to bed. Mr F is rolling his eyes. This should at least keep you entertained if you're up late tonight... the west coasters are still up ;)

Mrs Furious said...

Nutmeg,
Oh I'm sorry that actually sounds fairly frightening! Lips turning blue can be normal? That would stress me out. So does this indicate asthma or something else? I think I'm sleep deprived I don't know how you function. Baby was up about 20 times last night I've got no clue what her deal is maybe still the teeth.... but that its only been bad one month not 10 and I'm not worried about her when she wakes. I hope either way you get an answer and a solution or treatment that you are comfortable with and that maybe will help him sleep.

My attitude with health stuff is to be as educated about the worst case scenario (inevitably death... lol) but I am a Murphy's Law style person. I practically want to put the kids in life preserves upon boarding a plane just to rule out water landing as a possibility.

Oh and the sex... please... I so know where you are at. And not only will the day come when he can converse with you... the sex will return too (hopefully)

I answered the second one, not that that answer would make any difference in how I answered the first one. :)

emmyjw said...

Nutmeg,my 3 yr old Ella has asthma and when she is poorly controlled she coughs every 4-5minutes all night. She is on pulmicort nmt 2x/day,singulair chewable at bedtime and albuterol every 4hr as needed, which seems to be all the time this winter, and even with all of that she still coughs all the time. Not to sound scary or anything, but have they ever checked E. for cystic fibrosis?the only reason I ask is the poor appetite/weight gain because it affects respiratory and digestion.

Nutmeg said...

Emmy: Yeah... E is on pulmicort bid and albuterol. Singulair is a possibility in the future, but our ped wants the pulmonologist to decide the course of action. My husband and I both have asthma so it wouldn't be unheard of. It's probably "just" asthma and allergies.

CF is the worst case scenario that I've prepared myself for (and is probably the real reason we got referred somewhere else). It'd be highly unlikely as I was screened before I got pregnant and I live in a state with required newborn screening for CF, but it's not impossible that the 5% false negative NBS and the small chance that I have a rare mutation. (my husband's father had a sibling who died in early childhood of unknown causes). I'm sure he doesn't have CF, but I'm prepared that the pulmunologist will order the sweat test so I'm just not going to worry about it when she does!

If the pulm can't figure out why his lips turn blue we'll probably have to move on to a cardiologist, all I really wanted was to have to stop wondering how blue his lips are today. And now we're off on a trail of doctors!

I hope Ella gets better soon and the winter isn't TOO hard on her!

emmyjw said...

Nutmeg,I'm glad you were screened and that it is only a very remote possibility. I hope they are quick with testing and you can get some answers. Ella does alright, she is a spitfire and it doesn't seem to slow her down much.Yesterday she wore a tutu all day, even to playland ;)

Hi Mrs F and everyone,
I am still alive and well, I just have not been able to read or watch the videos the last couple of days so I have not commented yet...My oldest had a family birthday party yesterday and my husband just left on business for th week so it has been a bit busy. Of course i did do the poll, though.

Torey said...

Took the poll. Felt a little depressed.

Sorry to hear about everyones kids. Gup had his 9month appointment on Friday, and he had poor weight gain. It's not nearly as serious as what everyone else has going on, but it's enough to get me worried.

Hope everyone gets better!!!

And I LOVE the videos. I REALLY loved the one of you in the car. I felt like I was there with you!!

moley said...

Sorry to hear about everyone's sick kids. My thoughts are with you all.

Hi Mrs F. I love the videos but I don't always get a chance to listen. If the kids are about, they will leave me to read but I can't always comment or watch vids as the noise attracts them, and I then get dragged into their game or dance or whatever. If I'm really quiet I can often sneak under the radar for 15 minutes or so. Anyway they are at the MIL's with Mr Mole at the moment so I've got a bit of time to myself.

Took the poll - I can't actually remember the last time I had sex - how sad is that!

moley said...

Oh and talking of videos, I vote for more of Baby F. SHe is SO cute!

emmyjw said...

Hey everyone! Hope you are all having a great Sunday,I have to work again tonight so I'm checking in now. Just watched the post partum weight loss video-GREAT! So true,we are all different, some people drop weight just by nursing,or in the case of my friend Emily,by eating whatever she wants.I however have to fight for every ounce and count every bite, is it fair? No,but life goes on and I can either cry and whine and still be fat or get my butt in gear and work for it! As a wise woman once said, don't cry for me Argentina :) I think you are right on Mrs F,you just have to keep plugging away and if you get stuck, drop calories or work out more, but don;t give up!Talk to tou all later-time for my glamourous job doing wound care and listening to old people complain about their bowels!

Mrs Furious said...

Torey,
by the way thanks so much for the emails :)

Sorry about the slow weight gain... that is stressful I know. But remember that everyone grows differently and 6-9 months is common for their to be a weight drop off. I'll talk to you about it wednesday ...if we can fit it in around all the sleep talk ;). But I say try not to worry too much and keep up the avocado (hey maybe not the slimcado (lol).

Moley,
more Baby... check check!

As you can see from the poll results you are not alone. Which is of course exactly why I put that up there.

Emmy,
I'll try and get something up that is more interesting by the time you get back. But I've got my 10% off (all day) Target coupon today so that usually means I have to go there a couple of times to be sure I got everything I could ever need. Maybe something there will inspire me....

Torey said...

Thanks!

And where does one come up with this 10% coupon?

Mrs Furious said...

Torey,
ah 1st you need a Target card. If you use your Target card to get your prescriptions... this is where Mr F's allergies and ADD and Kid's epilepsy and constipation come in handy ... you get 10% for a whole day of shopping every 10 prescriptions. We get one every 2 months or so!!! Also every $1000 you spend at Target you get a 10% of coupon. So this month I hit both and I get 2 shopping days. Of course I end up buying 30% more so I'm not sure it actually works out as a savings....

P.O.M. said...

I did the poll. HOnestly. It's interesting to see the #'s all over the board.

Deb said...

I don't understand the sub-poll. I can check more than one box, because one of us stays at home, and we have a kid 0-5. Help!!!

I showed my husband the main poll, and he was unamused when I checked, "what".

Deb said...

Oh, crap... I just read your comment about "all that apply". Returning to the sub-poll.

Mrs Furious said...

P.O.M.,
I know! I was expecting "once a week" to be the clear front runner.

Deb,
yep go ahead and check all that apply!
And you are not alone in the "what" category... I am honestly surprised how popular that answer is... Mr F says he is not.

Anonymous said...

At first, when I read the sub poll I thought "Single" meant "single sex, like one person and an inanimate object, or a hand and I was like, "What?"

Then I read further and um, understood. Don't get me wrong, though, my misunderstanding didn't skew my first answer. I guess I'm in the 19% category, which is cool, I guess.
