Isn't It Romantic

"Ever wonder what my old lady hairstyle is going to be?" I ask Mr F across our candlelit table for two

"Um... not really." Mr F responds

"Do you ever wonder what mine will be?" He quickly adds with a glint in his eye

LOL. I have never actually thought about what my old lady hair would look like. Hm. I'm a little scared of that thought ...

Oh lord, old lady hair!

So what WILL yours look like?

I think I may end up being the long braid hippie lady.

I see myself with exactly the same hairstyle or a variation of it. I found some pictures taken when I was 19 & 20 (MANY years ago)and basically I have almost the same cut (inverted bob, all one length). Inbetween there were lots of different looks (does anyone remember the God awful shag?)but I find I always come back to this one so it must be the one I really like.

Haley,
First i will not color it. I'm already going gray and it is the nice silver kind and I'm totally into it. I'm hoping I'll go white. white=badass

Now I'll either do the super short Judi Dench style cut or have long hair up in a bun. That might depend on if I'm chubs or not ;) Anything in between those two it not really a look I can pull off even now... let alone with wiry white hair!

Dona,
Thanks for commenting :)
An inverted bob is always a good look. And I actually especially like it on older women... very classy. My hair is a frizzy nightmare and the bob is one of the cuts I can't pull off.

I'm totally with you on the no-dye plan (as long as I don't go gray in a bizarre skunk-like pattern or something similarly odd looking) and a bun may be in my future as well ( maybe even two...I could rock the aged princess leia thing).

lol that is so sweet ;) I am pretty sure I'm gonna go with some kind of bun, love the silver hair in a bun. I'm blonde and don't have any grey yet so I hope it will be a pretty silvery/white type, I agree white=badass! I also want to have an awesome collection of long flowing skirts and interesting cardigans, for some reason that is what I have in my head for my future old lady self, oh and cool silver jewelry. We shall see...

Haley,
princess leia... now that is badass... and ridiculous... but your grandkids would totally dig it.

My gray is all coming in in one streak which is of course exactly how to go gray. I'm excited every time I see it in the mirror. Fantastic.

I say the bun because I'm totally a bun person in general... much more flattering on me then a ponytail.

Emmy,
I am totally going to be sporting some kind of silver comb in my bun. Yes I am.

Cardigans... this is funny. I love cardigans. Love them and can't resist buying some at Target every year. Well last year I was eyeing one and trying to walk away but kept coming back to it. Then an eighty year old woman came along and went straight forward and I just had to start laughing at myself... yes I've been waiting for my old lady phase for sometime already ;)

Oh and Emmy,
How is your mom's hair?
I don't know if blondes go white. My mom is technically blonde but her grays are not sliver like mine. She now dyes her hair totally crazy... stay tuned because my family thinks she needs a hair intervention and she's letting me post pics on the blog and let the readers vote. Her hair is CRAZY.

Re: cardigans

"forward"?!? I meant "for it".
See? I am tired!

hmmm, wouldn't know because both my mom and my grandmas dye their hair. Guess I'll have to wait and see what happens. My dad is almost 58 and just has silver on the sides...and no hair on top ;)

Oh my...even in my recovering flu like state sitting in a filthy train to ny with other people hacking away, this has made my day. So funny. I'm smiling like an idiot. And oh, I will be sporting the silvery blond shoulder length hair pulled back in a glorious bun (much like I already do) with crisply pressed white or blue button down shirts (much like I already do) with yes, you guessed it, a cardigan on top (much like the one I am currently wearing right now!). And yes, I will be wearing ballet flats with a rubber sole and straight leg pants with a center crease and no belt. I would like my old age to have the freshly laundered look. Man oh man, thisd post really brightened my morning. Thank you from a future preppy granny.

Alexis,
yes... you will age beautifully.

Do you have the Brooks Brothers no-iron white shirt. They talked about it on Oprah.... crisp as can be!
