I've been meaning to write a post about a fantastic documentary I watched on PBS last week.
It was called "Where Do The Children Play" and it was fantastic... really thought provoking stuff.
I'll be back to write more on this topic later.
In the meantime check your local listings and set your DVRs.

I am really intrigued, can't wait to check it out. It always amazes me when we go on vacation, we usually go to the UP, my kids can spend hours looking for rocks on the beach or pretending they are in a fort deep in the woods in a little stand of trees near our campsite. Since we live in the dark ages we don't have a DVR but I will find a way to check it out.
Oh Emmy shoot! I wish I had mentioned it last week! Well maybe your affiliate didn't air it yet.
Arrgh... Baby won't take a nap. Maybe I'll get a chance to write a better post on this tonight.
I just checked our listings for WKAR, it is going to be on at 11pm tomorrow night. I am going to try to watch. We get crummy reception sometimes but it has been OK lately. Thanks for the info!
Ive been checking for the past half hour to see when it might air here no such luck yet hopefully I can get it on demand, thanks for the info. I would love to see this.
I am so with you on this Mrs F. Truly, I think I talk about this every day.
I have not watched your video yet, but I wanted to tell the others that
I just checked and this will be aired nationally by PBS during May. No dates set yet.
This was Michigan Public Television special, so it was on here first I think. I wrote a post on it last week (that I never put up), and wanted desperately to include a link to something on PBS's site, or some airtimes, and it wasn't there yet.
I put up my post here.
Just watched your video. Yes, yes, yes...i so agree with the statements.
I love listening to Baby. She is such a sweetie pie.
This looks fascinating. This sounds like it provides some facts around the kinds of conversations Hubby and I had when we bought our home. I wish we'd seen this before buying, although I get the sense from the summary that we might have made the best choice.
I'll look for it tomorrow. Thanks for the tip!
From a google search result [link]:
It will be available to other PBS stations around the country in mid-May. If you would like your local PBS station to air it, call and ask to speak with the program director. Find contact information at www.pbs.org/stationfinder. Let the program director know the film is on the APT list of films (and therefore free to most stations). Direct her to www.wfum.org/childrenplay for more information.
If you all are looking for more information on this topic and some practical recommendations for what to do to solve this problem, check out Playborhood.com. Besides that site, we have Playborhood Local sites like the one for Palo Alto and Menlo Park, CA, which are more brass-tacks solutions oriented. We're launching more of these, and we're actively seeking people to manage other Local sites.
Hey Mike,
Thanks a lot for the link! I'll come by and check it out.
