The Furious Family Biking Adventure

The weather has finally started to warm up and so we've been getting all our bikes and outdoor gear in order.

Here's Mr F and Kid trying out their new tandem arrangement....

Thumbs up to this contraption!

I took Baby out on her first bike ride and let's just say it didn't go as smoothly. Someone does NOT like having their feet tied down and so managed to wiggle her feet out of her secured shoes and proceed to kick the shit out of my butt while I pedaled her straight home. Ah well... the good news is that my fitness is so vastly improved from this time last year (or any year for that matter) that I was able to (even with a good 10 month long break) ride that bike with cardiovascular ease... even while being kicked violently from the rear!

That bike is so cool! That is so funny about Baby, I am sure that my daughter would kick her feet constantly, that is what she does in the stroller.

Erin,
what I nightmare! Kid always like to ride on the back... oh well.

Yeah the tandem bike attachment rocks! Exercise for Mr F... fun for Kid :)

We have a Burley, but that thing weighs a ton, so I'm looking into things for my kiddo. I can't decide if I want a rear seat or a front-mounted seat. Why do all kids have to be different?

I need a good kick in the rear Mrs. F, but I did do one thing really well last week. I substituted a salad for one meal every day last week, I've already been a year without soda and now have gone two months with mostly water as my drink of choice every day. I also started taking vitamins, a womens multi and a b complex...now for that kick in the butt to get some exercise and I'll be on my way to bikini ready!!!

We love our chaser. We loaned it to the neighbors because both boys can ride without training wheels. I use a bike trailer for MY baby. She loves it, but it IS heavy. I usually get a really good work out with that sucker!

That looks like so much fun!!! "Come back...alive." Hahaha. That is something I would say. :)

Deb,
Kid loved the rear mount seat. The trailer is just way too much for me to haul and have a kid in it! I don't know why we ever bought that stupid thing.

Kiki,
vitamins?!? You are ahead of me on that one!

Danielle,
Yes were hoping that this arrangement gives her more "street" confidence and she'll be more comfortable when we tack her training wheels off.

Kenady & Robin,
I always have that little bit of fear when Mr F goes off with the girls.... wonder if that ever goes away?

RE: The trailer...

It worked well for hauling Kid to the library, she can have her water (yes, it has a cupholder!) and read books on the way home.

I might still prefer the trailer to the tandem for a long distance (ie: picking her up from school).

Because it's a cheap(ish) trailer it's not very supportive and is useless for both kids. If you have two kids I'd recommend a nicer railer like the Trek GoBug which has two individualized seats. and is much cooler looking...
