Belated Birthday

I promised Kiki I would reveal Mr F's 40th birthday present...

I was looking for something meaningful... unfortunately I didn't start looking until 2 days before his big day.

Mr F recently went to Asheville for a job interview and when he left (beautiful suit in tow) he was wearing a freaking plastic Target watch. Why? Because yet another leather band has broken... and this most recent one actually can't be replace.
So I thought that I'd get him a metal watch and band... one he'd be able to hold onto forever (conceivably).

Well when I started looking a stumbled upon this...

Which looks astonishingly like this...

Mr F got me this watch for our wedding. He picked this one because it goes so well with our matte finish thick platinum bands. Seeing as this Men's watch was nearly identical, and it was somewhat sentimental in that it was reminiscent of my wedding watch (same brand and style), and I knew he'd like it since he'd picked out mine, it was a done deal.

He got it the day after his birthday which, although disappointing to me (especially since I paid for the expedited shipping), didn't bother Mr F one bit since that is his usual gift giving MO.

Happy Fortieth Mr F!

wait, I can't tell if he just left TODAY for another interview in Asheville or if when you were looking at the watch he was leaving. Do we have an update from Asheville?

no same interview.

Yes we are working towards a final word.

Looks good.

We should know by Tuesday, if not sooner.

I don't know why I'm double spacing... ;)

beautiful watch.

hang in there with the job.

now i am double spacing. it's catchy.

I'm sticking with single spacing. I'm that way. Good luck, I've got my fingers and toes crossed for you. I swear if you get it, Pete will get a job in freaking Detroit the next day and I will sob.

Heather,
should that happen... we've got a great house for you ;)

Ooh, I like the watches. Mrs. F, can you post a close-up of your rings? It looks like your wedding ring is a bezel setting, but I can't tell...it's a very pretty set, I'd like a closer look.

Hicktown Diva,
I'm trying to put them up in the sidebar.
Here is a link to our designer although she doesn't have ours up. It is a square profile band with bezel set diamonds on the engagement ring.

Hicktown Diva,
sorry they aren't very big... I had a really hard time holding the camera steady enough to take it without the flash so I had to use the photobooth. If you click the pic in the post (with the watch on) it will be full size and you might be able to see the rings better.

Mrs. F--
Thanks for the close-up pics...what a great set of rings! I'm off to check out the website of your designer. I don't buy much jewelry but I do like to admire it...

Mrs.F, I am so glad you posted this and I really love both of your watches, I love square faces on a watch and I also love having all the numbers on a watch. Okay, I just said 'watch' one too many times in that sentence!!! I think you did a great job putting time into a thoughtful, relevant gift...you have great taste and by the way....your rings are lovely!!!!

Hicktown Diva,
Go HERE.
This is the place where we got our rings... it is in Brooklyn... I got several things from them before we moved here. I've never found another jewelry store that I've liked as much.

Kiki,
Thanks! :)

Mrs.F, I think I'm hanging around a bit much today because I'm off and the weather is overcast...so no beach, anyway, I went to the Clay Pot website and have bookmarked it becasue I am crazy in love with it!!! Oh my gosh, next time I go home it will be one of my stops!!!!

Mrs Furious said...

Kiki,
It's fantastic! I couldn't walk in there without getting something... it's probably a good thing we moved ;)
Since everything is handmade by individual artists it just has such a nice wide range of styles and their products are always changing.
The closest thing we've found to it is the Sundance Catalog... which carries some of the same artist's stuff.

Love your rings. They are beautiful. I was not surprised when I opened the link and it was the clay pot. My husband wanted to get our wedding bands there. LOVE everything in there.
BTW, I think the watch was a great birthday gift. I am simply the worst gift giver when it comes to my husband.

Truth be told I have been looking for a place to buy the Dogeared line of jewelry and Clay Pot carries it. I was thinking I could probably just order it from them too...I'm glad I have a trip home planned in two months, I'll be going straight to the Clay Pot!!!

Preppy Mama,
Oh fun... I'm glad someone else knows it!

Thanks too :)

Yes I'm usually a horrible gift giver (to Mr F)... I don't know why either. I do feel pretty good about this one though.

Kiki,
Yay! I can't wait until we get to go back. I love showing Kid all the sights.

Our engagement rings are very similar, although yours is a modern take on mine, and my lovely husband also gave me a watch for my wedding present. It seemed shockingly practical at first, and now I'm thrilled he gave me something that will last so long that I'll be able to give to my kiddo someday. I think you made a great choice.

I like the way you think Mrs. F. I hope he liked it, especially with the sentimental stuff attached:)
