Move Over Joan Crawford

Last night I lost my temper. I yelled at Kid. I said things that weren't nice. I regretted it, even while I was doing it, but was too immature in the moment to stop. We all have this inside of us. I'm not putting this out there so someone will try and make me feel better about it. I putting it out there so someone might feel better about themselves.
We all mess up sometimes. It's what you do about it that makes the difference.

Thanks for sharing. I have done that twice over the past couple of weeks and it makes me feel terrible (like a bad mom.) Glad to know I'm not alone.

Oooh, I hate it when they act more mature than me! Wait until she is 8 and calls you out on it! BAH! Then comes to you later and asks if you are ready to apologize yet ...

I've also done that and felt absolutely horrible about it. It IS nice to know I'm not alone.

we were going out to eat and our 2 youngest started squabbling about what food to get .. my husband got kinda frustrated and was telling (rather loudly) the kids they were ruining the outing by acting like that .. and my 7 yr old said, "Well you are ruining by yelling at us."

touche'!

i have some peaceful parenting recordings i listen to on the treadmill sometimes. it helps with giving me ideas on how to parent that don't involve losing it and yelling because i've been there and it sucks.

I think too, that it puts that touch of fear in your kids that is not always a BAD thing. Like they know that you have it in you to snap .. lol.

My sis (she's a mom) call those "Spaz Attacks." At least it didn't happen in public :)

Ugh, I hate when I do that. To be in the midst of totally immature douchebag mommy parenting, to be completely aware that I am doing it and still continue.

At least, we talk about it. My mother would never have fathomed apologizing for being over the top when i was a kid.

On a related note, at least i know my kids don't fear me and run under the bed and hide when i am in mommy dearest action....oh, but i do totally get what you are saying, Jennifer. Sometimes I wish my kids did fear me more!:)

At least it didn't happen in public :) LOL...so true.

Do you all remember that crazy video of a woman hitting her kid as she put her in the car at a Walmart or Kmart parking lot from a few years back? Hey, as Chris Rock says, I don't condone it, but I understand it. well, at least the fantasy of it...I have been known to fantasize just turning around in the car and saying "shut the fuck up!" to my kids. Bad mommy confessions.

as long as the wire hangers didn't come out. (I was totally obsessed with that movie as a kid)

hang in there. we all have our moments. doesn't make it suck any less. but we have to remember that we are still human.

C'mon, people, don't leave my comments hanging. Now I feel I scared everyone off with my post:)

Cool, Ang, glad you commented. I was afraid my crazy confessions were going to be last posts!!

LOL Julie! I've just been busy trying to pretend I'm patient and loving ;)

If it makes you feel better I *may* have dropped the f-bomb last night with a little ditty that went something like ...
"fine don't leave your tooth for the fucking tooth fairy"
ahhh... priceless ;)
what can I say? I haven't had a break from the kids in over a month... literally... 24/fucking7
and was I so wrong to want to insist that she leave her tooth so that I could feel *special* when I exchanged it for a quarter even though what she wanted was to save it forever?!?!

Mrs F, that is the funniest thing i have ever heard! I nearly spit the gin out of my mouth...er, mean water. Totally just kidding. You know i am trying to lose weight;)

I wish I could say that I've never gone off on my children! We're all human--I have to apologize to them and admit that I shouldn't have said what I said.

I feel like...I can't help channeling my own mother. The best I can do is acknowledge it, apologize for it, and ask my children to forgive me--actions my mom NEVER took (she still doesn't).

Kat,
"I feel like...I can't help channeling my own mother"
yes...oh... yes

Julie--You totally crack me up. Worry not, you didn't scare anyone away.

I only have a 2 yo so not quite the same experiences as you guys with older kids. But I know better understand what my dad meant when he said "Stop your crying or I will give you something to cry about." I mean, really, does my changing your pee soaked pajamas really merit a 15 minute hysterical crying spree. Seriously.

Mrs F: I feel your pain. It's so hard when you look forward to doing something really cool for your kid and then they have totally different ideas. It hurts. Is this kid's first lost tooth?

Finally, i didn't miss booze my first pregnancy at all. Now that I have a 2 year old, i find that i crave/almost need some wine. I can't wait to not be pregnant so i can have some wine again. And, yes there are other reasons (beyond alcohol) why i can't wait to give birth to baby #2.

I'm glad to see so many Mom's posting that they've gone through this too...and are open to talking about it. :)

I've done the exact same thing...
f bomb included. :P

But, I apoligize and we talk about it and move on.
It's a good life lesson for us all. :)
