God I Love These Guys

Today was one of those days.  A day when I was acutely aware that I am living the life I dreamed of living.  Having a cup of coffee, sitting in a chair reading a book, with the sounds of laughter and chatter drifting in and out of the room.  Making bread with a little helper standing on a chair, hands dusty with flour, rolling pin in hand.  Sisters holding hands, running up and down the sidewalk, with the sunset shining through their golden hair. Pancakes for breakfast, and a movie at night. Compliments enthusiastically bestowed for a good lunch.  Laughter with my husband.  A day that played out exactly as I imagined my adult life would be.  Except I didn't know then how full it would make my heart to be so fulfilled... so indescribably happy.

I'd also like to thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers, and positive energy that they sent my Nana's way.  I am thrilled to report that it worked and that she made nothing short of a miraculous recovery. She does not know that hundreds of kindly strangers were rooting for her but I am sure she felt it.  My aunt told me that against all odds, with all her children gathered at her bedside, she never gave in.  She just never let go.  And we are so grateful!

I had to write it down so that I wouldn't forget tomorrow when things go back to normal ;)

Good news about Nana!!! Love days like you had - and the fact that you can freeze them in time on a blog so the girls can go back and see it - what a gift!

R - you've no idea how much I needed to hear exactly what you said in this post. This is my life too when I'm not wallowing in pity over my huge pregnant belly and aches and pains approaching post-partum. You're awesome.

Amy,
Hang in there! I so know how miserable being pregnant can be.
I swear, if you haven't read them already, that the Beverly Lewis Abram's Daughters series got me though the last couple weeks. Get the whole series of 5 books... you will not be able to put them down! They are so absorbing you'll almost be able to forget you're pregnant. I got the whole set online at a Christian bookstore for 24 bucks.

that's amazing. I'm so happy you're happy. Also, fabulous about your Nana.

Even though I am not at my goal in life yet, I've been feeling overwhelmingly greatful for my life lately. It's kinda patchy, but even though I don't have everything I love what I have, and the world, and... yeah!

Elizabeth,
I think that's key. I spent most of my life pre-kids so focused on the next thing ... getting married... having kids... that I never really enjoyed the opportunities that my (then) present life allowed. It's easy (even now) to get sucked into the things that aren't great and then miss all the things that are.

Yay for Nana! I'm so happy she pulled through!

I love this post. You deserve more and more of these days. :)

Haley,
I think some changes might be afoot around here and maybe I'll have more of these days... starting next fall ;)

I read backwards, so I got to see this after the financial posts. This is beautiful, Mrs. F., and just what I needed to read today.

I'm so glad your Nana is doing well!
