Like You Didn't See This Coming

Overheard during bath time...

[splashing... crazy, crazy, splashing]

"I mean it. Sit down NOW and don't move!" Mr F says firmly.

[sudden silence]

"Turn around so I can wash your hair." Mr F instructs.

"I'm not moving. You told me not to." Kid replies somewhat snarkily.

I always used to tell my mom, "It's better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass."

LOL
I'm with you!

Ummm, so I totally don't understand the comment you just left on my blog. LOL food budget style?

Mrs Furious said...

I was afraid of that.

I was hoping you were going to write about compacting... as I am apparently desperate for company.

Robin said...

Haha, no. I am writing more about the freaking preschool drama. That story is three posts long!

I am totally intrigued by the compacting, though. We started doing Dave Ramsey's budgeting (with the envelopes,) and it has made a huge difference in the amount of money going out. I really need to spread our grocery budget a little further. I love Katy's blog and am ordering the paper to get coupons. So I am reading all your compacting stuff, I just don't have anything to add. So far. :)

I just read the comment you just left. Don't worry about it. I tend to get completely obsessed with one thing and can't think about anything else. I am working up an obsession with coupons.

Yeah I was like either she means what I'm talking about in my comment or on my blog. And my blog won in my mind... of course.

Well I'll be interested to hear how the preschool story unfolds.

Coupons. Seriously. When I read that she got all that sauce... I became a bit obsessed myself. I could totally get into it. Totally.

Mmm... sangria. I could use some.

Ok, you guys crack me up. I just went to Robin's blog to see what Mrs F left as a comment. Mrs F, total LOL when I read your comment.

I am still laughing.

Oh, you know I love all the food shopping type talk. I love it.

Yup, we have smart ass kids, too. I say it will serve them well in later years. Now it does not serve me well at all.

This is so awesome!

yes the sangria comment!

I totally had a margarita it dinner tonight!

And this is lots of stuff to think about. I think I will be trying to at least think more along what you're doing. Planning is key. I'm just too damn flighty right now with the meal plan, and I definitely let food rot. It's HARD to buy just enough for one! But that's the challenge I guess.

Mrs Furious said...

Elizabeth,
I totally get that. It's not exactly like you can make a meal for one for a 1/4 of the cost of a family dinner. It's a legitimate challenge.

Oh boy I needed that sangria tonight.

It's better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass'....

Oh I love it and I'm going to be using this quote A LOT and/or saying it to myself because there are quite a few smart ass comments made at my house on a daily basis.....

Sounds like bathtime at the Furious household is EXACTLY like it is here...ummm...minus the Mr. actually giving them a bath....my mom has told me I need to stop bathing the children together but seriously, there's not enough time in the evening and is it really a big deal to give a 5 year old boy and 2.5 year old girl a bath together???? At least they get a bath every night right?!?!

Sorry I was completely MIA today Mrs. F...let's just say, I hope you saved some Sangria for me....

Renee - I bathe my 4 y.o. son and my 2 y.o. daughter together and plan to do it as long as I can! So far they haven't even really noticed that they are different, so until they do...

Renee-I have been known to cram my 4yo, 3yo, AND 18month old into a bath together just to get it done...mind you they are all girls, but if one was a boy he would still be crammed in... It takes so freaking long to get through bath time as it is. When they are old enough to want to bath alone, they'll be old enough to hop in the shower alone!! :-)

Hi Mrs. F. Long-time reader, occasional commentor Smitty here...

Off-subject: your video blogs. I'm looking at incorporating a video component to my blog. A hardware questions: did you get one of those laptops with the fancy built-in camera and mic? Or did you buy a web cam? And if the answer is the latter, what kind of cam did you get?

Thanks...

Hahaha! Isn't having kids fun? By the by, I am into the couponing thing. I can't do much in the way of food because we only have 2 grocery stores: Walmart and Food World. Walmart doesn't double coupons and doesn't really have "sales" - Food World doubles up to .50, but their prices are sometimes triple Walmart.

But I do CVS, Walgreens and Rite Aid. I almost never pay for shampoo/dishwashing liquid/dishwasher detergent/toothpaste etc. If I do, it's less than $1. I share my stockpile with my family.

If you want you can check out www.hotcouponworld.com. No cost to join and they break it down for you newbie style.

Smitty,
None of the above.

Believe it or not I shoot all of those on my little Cannon Elph Digital Camera. We do have a digital camcorder but it goes on those little tapes... it's much easier to just stick my memory card in. I do have a Mac and so have iMovie. I upload it to that... the files are huge (and quality is actually great) but then I have them converted to a smaller file I can upload to the web... which makes it much more grainy.

We thought about getting a new camcorder... but honestly even doing family videos is just easier with my little camera. My memory card allows for up to 30 minutes of video. I just convert those to a CD-ROM quality and burn them to disks.

If we do get a real camera I'll let you know what we get.
