Here are a sampling of things that I did while NOT on the computer this weekend.
Yes I filled them.
I used some scrap fabric and had Kid draw pictures on them for her teachers. Then I sewed them up with trim to make cute little pillows (turn your head... sorry about that sideways upload!). Cute, from the heart... and FREE.
More random sewing projects...
Finally corralled all the "dog" bags.
And while these are CERTAINLY nothing to write home about... and yes they are hung unevenly.... and haven't been ironed... and according to Kid look like a painter's cloth (ouch! but she is right) They do cover the windows (which you may recall look out at the screened in porch and the back of the outdoor window treatments) and that is a good enough improvement for now. I am going to embellish them with something... sometime.
And yes that "scrap" fabric was about 79 yards long.
And that doesn't even count finally unpacking my room (and cleaning it!) and hanging pictures on the walls.
And cleaning the kitchen... and reorganizing it so that one stretch of counter is not the "shit catchall" but now the home to both the coffee maker and the toaster. I think that will help.

That is AMAZING!
And those pillows are adorable. :)
You will be baking a whole lot more with all of this "free" non-computer time.
Uh oh. You might need to do a few 'give-aways' of your baked goods:)
PS I just ran downstairs to throw a load of laundry on before I tell Murphy a story. Of course, I had to also check email, Boston.com and your blog. This is the kind of stuff you are talking about. I should be bonding with my child over a made-up adventure story and I am here on the web.
Well, I guess that's better than if I said I'd be right back and I wasn't. Ever. Or if I came downstairs to smoke some crack. Although, I am sure I could come up with one heck of a story after a little crack in me;)
Haley,
I'm really happy with the pillows. I think I've got our Christmas g'parents idea taken care of!
Julie,
" Although, I am sure I could come up with one heck of a story after a little crack in me;)"
Bwahahahaha
and I can only hope it gets so hot and humid I don't want to bake... because that is really going to make my whole diet plan a hell of a lot harder. Although I did freeze these so we only have thawed what we're going to eat for dessert... otherwise they'd all be gone already.
Loving the pillows.
(BTW, laughing very hard at Julie's "Or if I came downstairs to smoke some crack".)
Deb,
If you can sew a straight line you too can make the pillows. Crayola fabric markers.
Love, love, love it!! All of it!!! Most of all though, the headboard!! To. Die. For.
You rock! I need to get me some non-computer time, although it is hard because I am doing two online courses....
Those are adorable and a wonderful gift!!! GREAT JOB!!!!!
Umm, can I have a cupcake????
We can eat them while on surveillance.
Michelle :)
Wow! That's great! I DID think you gave up sugar, but since you didn't, I agree with Julie that baked good 'give-aways' are an excellent idea. :)
I think you are right on with your new approach to decrease the amount of random time spent on the web. It can be such a drain on time/productivity... without one even being aware of it.
Kiki,
Oh thank you... the room actually looks much better in person since it's a perfect square I can't get much in at once.
The headboard is from Ballard Designs... white quilted fabric. Cheap.
Supermom,
I've got SEVERAL in the freezer. Come over for a playdate next week and I'll give you one.
Emily,
I'll never give up sugar!
And I will say I'm surprised that I actually can do everything I did do online in much less time by just doing it all at once. And I have freed up an amazing amount of time offline. I have an hour a day and I don't think I even need that much.
Me, Only Better,
that does indeed make it harder... since I have no legitimate reason to ever use the computer it's easier to stay on point (for now).
Should I tell Kid those look like painter's pillows?
