Yay or Nay?

You may recall that I returned last summer having factually busted out of my bathingsuit. And truthfully I got that suit at my absolute thinnest and it's a bit tight even without the clasp on the back.

This year I'm going for a top without a clasp just in case! Also a little more bum coverage.

The girls aren't loving this suit... but I don't know why.
Probably because it's blue.

Does it look better now?!!

Yeah the girls didn't think so either.

LOL! I like it... good coverage without making you look like you are hiding a ham under or are preggers. :)

Oh, and the last pic is just creepy....friends don't let friends look like strong man competitors. :D

BTW, I should tell you..you look, like, high school cheerleader small in those pics. :)

I like!! Cute!!

Inkelywinkely,
Yeah... I've hesitated to go the skirt round before for those reasons. This one is short enough that it didn't feel too dweebie to me.
I want to be able to walk from the beach to the park or ice cream shop without feeling as exposed as I did in a regular suit.

And thank you. Not quite that small in real life I don't think... but who can judge themselves?

Kelsi,
thanks! I think I'll keep it.

Nay! You have great legs! Show them off. The skirt is a little dowdy, and I think reserved for women who have big bums and hips.

I have not had a suit that was bought especially for me since I was about 18..hubby bought it for me while we were dating. I loved it...and my crack head cousin stole it. LOL.

I now have my mom's old suit that is kinda cute, but SO not my style, and I always feel a little over exposed as she is a skank and likes her humongous boobies to hang out, and I don't.

Maybe I can talk hubby into getting me a new one if we ever go swimming again...last summer I wore jean shorts and a tee shirt to the lake. LOL. Imagine that...

Anyways, yes, keep it..it is good, makes you look thin, is perfect for in or out of the water, isn't too short or tight, or bulky and matronly...and the colors are very... artsy to me.

It looks great! I am glad one of us can not look like a blimp this summer! :)

Heather,
Well I bought a regular bottom and the skirt. I thought I'd go with the regular... but... my butt is so flat that the bottom (smallest size) is all wrinkled and saggy. NOT GOOD. That's why I ended up showing you all the skirt. I do have the bottoms from last year and they're black (which is in the top) I might try those back on and see how it looks. I do like the bit of tummy holding in the skirt does though! In regular bottoms I often feel you can see the seam (my c-section scar) and feel self conscious. If I can cram into the black bottoms I'll show you for a final vote.

How can I say this without it sounding wrong?

Um, I can't. I'm being honest though.

The design isn't figure flattering. The solid bottom part is perfect. If you can find either a solid one color suit or a less busy design it would work better.

Of course I refuse to put feet into a bathing suit, so what do I know?

Mrs Furious said...

Smoochie,
I appreciate the honesty. I have to pay for it so I do want it to be flattering. What about the cut of the top? It's from Land's End and every top & bottom comes in like a million color combos.

inkelywinkely,
Girl, get yourself a bathing suit! Your own!!

Smoochiefrog said...

Whew! I was so hoping I wouldn't offend.

The cut doesn't look bad. It's just the pattern.

Maybe something with a more tank style top as opposed to halter?

Just spitballing here.

I like it!!!!!!

I think the top looks great on you.

I am not a fan of the blue skirt...I think I just don't like the color with the top.

I'd like to see a different bottom with that top.

I think you have a great beach-ready body, Mrs F!

Mrs Furious said...

Smoochie,
Nope not offended. I have another top on the way that was backordered. It can be a halter or a regular tank.

Julie,
The colors are looking more funky on my computer than in real life. I think the flash is kind of washing out the top... it has more blue in it than it appears. I got the orange bottoms but they were too ill fitting. I'll try it with the black bottoms. I might just go to Sears and try them all on... but I HATE trying them on in dressing rooms!!!

And thanks. I don't feel as good as I did last year but I'm moving I realize that realistically this is not so bad a place to be for me.

Supermom,
Land's End.

Damn, those are some major guns woman! Muscles are cool :)

I love the color combo - is that orange with it??? Looks cute. I also think there's a place for the skirt - if you're going to be up and around and walking around - it's fine. Otherwise it will give you funky tan lines. Also, I disagree about the halter - I think halter tops make boobs look good - cleavage-y.

PS: Serious flat butt problems here too. I was talked into buying this skimpy suit because of it. I felt so self-conscious and a bit slutty walking around in Mexico with it, but what the hell?

Mrs Furious said...

P.O.M.,
I agree re: halter. I need me a deep ass v ;)

I like the skirt for the up and about stuff. I'll be in it all day. Making lunch, etc.
It's shorter than it appears since I can't zoom out enough for perspective. From behind you can actually see the built in panty.

I hate having a flat butt. I even have a problem getting skirts to fit since they are cut for more ass/hips then I have and then that extra fabric just hangs.

STACI said...

I agree about the halter & boobs. I don't have them but I prefer halters because they show off the shoulders. You've got the arms & the boobs...go for it! :)

The skirt is good for Mom stuff...totally know where you're coming from. No need to show the neighborhood kids your business. :P
With that new fenced in yard I imagine you'll be out there all summer long.

I think for swimming/beach days a regular bottom is better. (like you said)

I have the opposite problem...
Too much junk in the trunk for skirts. The back is always higher than the front because my bum is out there. lol

Chris Howard said...

I think it looks pretty good. However, I'm against combining orange and blue on principle.

Mrs Furious said...

Chris,
Is that a sports reference that's gone over my head?

Staci,
" No need to show the neighborhood kids your business."
Exactly.

Kiki said...

Your arms are AMAZING!!! I am completely coveting that awesome tone and definition!!

The skirt is cute for running around, it would bother me swimming because I don't like extra fabric blousing out in the water. But that just preference....I think it suits (pardon the pun) your shape and frame!!!

Mrs Furious said...

Kiki,
good point... I also hate extra fabric when swimming. I just ordered some clearance suits that don't have skirts so I'll post those up next week.

Andrea said...

wow I think you look great!

Mrs Furious said...

Andrea,
Thank you.
Of course I have to hang out with my nieces (skinniest teenagers on planet Earth) while on the beach (and my brother's girl friend)... it will be skinny bikini-ville... and I promise you I will be the biggest one there!

P.O.M. said...

I hear ya Mrs. F. Sometimes undies just hang too! The only good thing about a flat butt is I think it's the only reason I can fit into some smaller sizes sometimes - hello size 4!!

Kinder said...

I think it is a cute suit, and you look awesome!!

Chris Howard said...

Yeah, orange and blue are the colors of the University of Florida, sworn enemies for us alumni of Florida State. Now that you guys are Southerners :), you'll have to brush up on your college football knowledge.

Claire said...

I think you look great - and I get the skirt idea for walking around - but I'm just coming off of trying bathing suits on last wknd at a store and I ran home and ordered one from a catalog.

Missives From Suburbia said...

I'm going to say your arms look hella good. I'm not digging the suit. Love the cut, it fits magnificently, but the colors aren't doing it for me. Methinks they wash you out. Do you tan? That would solve it. Regardless, still envying your guns.
