Baby Is Trying To Kill Me

Last night was the third night in a row of near constant wakings.

I don't know what is going on but she's been having nightmares that involve strange physical manifestations like sitting up, walking out of bed, flailing, fighting, burying herself. It's nuts. She talks but isn't awake... or is awake but isn't coherent. She cries, screams, and laughs. And it goes on ALL NIGHT.
I have maybe had 2 hours of total sleep each night.

Then of course I have to get up at the crack of dawn to watch the baby.

As much as I want to sell this house I just desperately hope nobody calls for a showing today (or tomorrow). I think I might actually collapse if I had to get on my knees and scrub the kitchen floor right now.

I also need to go get some Unisom so I can fall to sleep more easily.

And I need Baby to just have at it with whatever virus she is brewing up in there.

Vomit, cough, runny nose... any of that is better than zombie time.

ugh, I'm sorry!!! I hope everything gets better!

That said, I dream of a hotel with those really heavy curtains that block sunlight, a king size bed, some Unisom and NO KIDS. I would sleep for DAYS!

sounds like "night terrors". my son used to have them. he seemed awake and was crazy, but didn't remember them...and they kept me up all night. not sure what causes them...
sucks..for you, i know. sleep is SOOO important!!!

Jamie (my 4 year old) does that. It's crazy because I can never get him to wake up, stop, and tell me what's wrong. It's not every night, though. It's only about once a week. Hope she stops soon for you.

I used to babysit a little girl that had night terrors almost every night. Her parents would do anything they could to wake her up; if it was cold outside they would take her out there and it usually shocked her awake. Sometimes they would blare music right next to her, or turn a blow dryer on. Anything to shock her awake. She would need a little snuggling/comfort and then she would sleep and not have them again that night. Scary stuff! So sorry Mrs. F.

I say night terrors as well, this sucks for you I remember this phase lasting a few weeks no sleep.

My youngest used to have those night terrors too. It is so frustrating, but it does end... and maybe you won't have to deal with any strange virus after all...

Oh so feeling for you. The baby has a stomach thing going on. I was up most of the night changing poop diapers! Ugh! I hate diapers!! Hope you get some sleep soon!!!

Maybe from all the changes? I thought you said she's had them before (but not every night!) and the stress of dad being gone and mom cleaning and strangers coming in the house for showings...so maybe thats how she's dealing with it and sorting out the changes? Of course, it sucks big time. And if it kept up I would call Mr. F at 3am and let him share in the joy.

Of course, I'm spiteful that way sometimes... :)

And if it kept up I would call Mr. F at 3am and let him share in the joy....Yes, word to Marie.

Hmm....could it be related to the curtains or whatever used to freak her out in your bedroom?? She's ghost fighting at night perhaps?

Or yes, she is trying to kill you.

Yes I agree I think it is night terrors. I did some research on it today. I've always kind of thought she has had them in the past but now I'm sure of it. And it is fascinating stuff.

Yes, Marie, she has had episodes before but never for more than one consecutive night before. I was thinking maybe the family changes are stressing her. Stress can bring them on. If that's the case hopefully she'll move through it soon. I am now remembering she was doing this each new location we went to on our summer driving trip.

Julie,
funny you mention the ghosts Kid openly says "she sees ghosts" because they talk about it and Baby points them out to her. creepy. I don't think that's the deal with this because I was reading up on night terrors and it's nervous system reaction and not really scared from a nightmare of bad thought. Of course I'd have one kid with a neuro issue and another with a nervous system one!!

off to make more coffee....

Oh no the dreaded night terrors! You have my utmost sympathy.
Hetty had these and it is so horrible. She just screamed and sobbed and it was heart-breaking. Even when you know they are not awake it is so hard to listen to your baby crying hysterically.
It doesn't rain but it pours :-(

I am hitting the wall. I have not been my most patient and just told the girls that if I heard any more whining and arguing we'd all be unhappy.
Please let her sleep tonight!!! Momma's about to have a nervous breakdown...

sounds like night terrors - the little girl down the block has them and they sound hellish. she had one while mid nap on the monorail in disney....could you imagine the stares that mom must have gotten.

Oh, Mrs. F, I am so sorry. That kind of stuff always happens when my husband is traveling, so I completely know where you're at. Awful. I hope you get a good night tonight.

As soon as this baby of mine weans, I am taking off for a weekend alone.
