Crazy indeed!
Kid had been making signs all week about wanting a Tabby cat. She's having a really hard time... VERY nervous about starting a new school. I was going to wait and surprise her on her first day of school... but... she's barely sleeping she's so nervous. So we bumped our plan up. Now she's distracted! I don't think she's thought about school once today ;)

I really miss having a two-some of kitties! I did the same thing! moved in the the 5th of the month, got my fur babies on the 6th, boxes surrounding, mess everywhere and two kittens! Its now 9 years later and we had to let one go in March...man I miss those first few crazy kitty months

Fantastic! Great idea, too, to help Kid with nerves about school. And really good you got two (I assume they are siblings.) Our 2 kitties LOVE each other so much and play with each other. The kittens will help distract you at times, too, when you want to freak out because you have boxes to unpack and all of that stuff.

It's been a great distraction... for all of us. Of course they LOVE to play with my new curtains.

Within 10 seconds Kid said ...

"They are playing in your curtains again."
"Are they going to ruin your good rug?"
"One of them is hanging off the couch!"
"Um... they just knocked over your table."

They woke up ready to play! And you should have seen her big grin when she stumbled out of her room and *remembered* that we had cats.

Shirls,
I'm sorry for your loss. We're still grieving Canine and it's been nearly a year. One reason we didn't get another dog... still seems like a replacement. And I'm very glad we got two kitties... I think it was an easier transition for them... and they are so much more entertaining!

julie,
Yes, we got 16 week old brothers. We went in kind of wanting to find older cats... but these boys were surprisingly mellow for kittens and not too young and never once clawed the girls when they were playing... really offer up a soft paw. There was an older cat, a beautiful grey cat, but she was constantly kneading us with her claws.

Oh man, I love that. We're still nursing our geriatric 18 yr old cat with kidney disease along... she's the only one we have left. I also miss those days with two active kittens. I'm sure they will be very "helpful" as you unpack, and that's great stuff for the girls. Can't wait to hear the names!!

So cute! I'm so jealous -- our landlords don't allow pets, so I'm going to go kittenless for at least a year. Adam doesn't realize that when we move there may be some rebound pet acquisition...

OMG! How did I miss this? I bet this helps distract them while you're unpacking.
