Funny- I was just tweeting about this. A friend is on the sixth day and said it is TOUGH but good. I'm going to grab a copy on eBay because I hear it's cheaper there than other places.
I've had it for months now and it is wicked hard. I can't do the same workout for 3 days straight, let alone 30, so I do it sporadically. It still makes me pour sweat on level 1. I've yet to do the other levels.
I have the DVD. Bought it in February with the intention of shredding some pounds. Three days later I found out I was pregnant. So I haven't tried it, but there's a blogging group called the Shred Heads, and they swear it's the bomb. One girl lost twenty pounds in 2 1/2 months doing the DVD.
It looks easy at first, but they say it's hard core. You'll be sore the next day.
I'm going to be out of town for about 6 weeks this summer and I want to have something along that I could do wherever I am. I'd like to say I would get plenty of exercise with the girls but I also know that might not happen. I don't want to work hard now just to let it all go while I'm gone. I think this might work for me. The workouts are short enough that it wouldn't feel like I was eating too much time out of our vacation either.
I started 30 Day Shred in December- I hadn't been working out previously. It is a killer workout but I stuck with it through level 1, 2, and finally 3! It is AWESOME. I got about 3-4 months of use out of the video before I finally felt like level 3 was too easy. It totally changed my body, and I saw muscles I've never seen before. I did it about 4-5 times a week. I would recommend it to anyone. I now do No More Trouble Zones, also by Jillian, and it's the perfect follow up video! You will not regret buying 30DS. Just so you know, you need hand weights! I used 3 pounds at first but after that I used 5. Oh I also lost about 30 pounds during the 3 1/2 months I did it, but I was doing weight watchers as well. Good luck!
Mrs F, coming to the beach...maybe??? I've got a treadmill!!! Heehee!!
On the topic of Jillian, I'm curious about how it is too??? If you get it promise to share what it's like??? Also, have you tried or know anyone who tried Ten Minute Trainer???I'm dying to know...
First time to comment but long time lurker. I really have meant to mention this exercise program to you before due to you NOT having all the time in the world to exercise. It is called T-Tapp. Look into and let me know what you think! I wish that I had known about this when my kiddos were little! Courtney P.S. I do love you blog!
Okay Mrs. F. - I have the 30 Day shred and I think that it's a really good video (husband thinks maybe she talks too much - but I like that she keeps reminding me to make my time count). Because it is divided into three increasingly difficult segments, you can vary the length of your workout. Also, because there's no equip. (save mat) it is great for travelling.
Jillian also has a good longer length workout (Banish Fat Boost Metabolism). Both DVDs are great because they're no nonsense, doable at any level, but still challenging.
I just bought it and I think it is a great workout. Don't be fooled - level one is NOT easy and I am fairly fit right now. I've also heard looked at some threads on this DVD and people say when it gets too easy they will increase the hand weights or double up the workouts - do level one and level three back to back.
I am a big fan of Jillian right now, and I listen to her podcast. She clarified that it shouldn't be done EVERY day for 30 days, maybe 4or 5 days a week and move up to the next level when the current level feels easy. I myself just use it as a filler workout on days I don't have time for my full workout.
I think it would be a good trip DVD though because you don't need a lot of room, just enough room to do a jumping jack or pushup, and the only equipment you need is the light hand weights and maybe a yoga mat if you are on a hard surface.
Awesome. Thanks everyone... I'm definitely going to get Mr F to give me this for my b'day. Sounds like it will be perfect for travel.
Courtney, Thanks for the comment. I just watched part of one of the workouts online. I'm into the left brain/right brain elements. I'm a sucker for stuff like that ;)
Heather, I'm taking the girls to MI to our family cottage on Lake Michigan. Also stopping to visit some family/friends on our way up and down. We'll be gone end of June -Aug. I'm excited/terrified about the length... but I think it will be good for my psyche to get out of here for awhile.
I got it for Xmas. I used it sporatically for a few weeks, but I hate working out in my living room and didn't keep it up. If I had the space, I would totally use it because it does really work.
For someone with very little time for working out, it's definitely worth a try.
You can find most of it on YouTube if you look around. Check it out for sure!
dangit! we're going to be in Asheville the end of July!!! we'll miss you guys! shoot.
good luck with the workout. a bunch of the moms on one of my mommy-boards are all about this and they say it's pretty hard! you are a fitness guru though, so it should be no big deal for you!
tell mr. f to check Craigslist or even Freecycle for it. Lots of people buy exercise stuff and promptly get rid of it!
A friend, who is in pretty good shape, said it almost killed her that first week. She didn't even feel like she could type - lol. But she stuck with it and loved it.

Rachel,
Great review. Thank you. I was wondering how long I would be able to use it.
Kiki,
Oh you know I will let you know. I've never heard of Ten Minute Trainer. Maybe someone will chime in.
Skwigg is a fan of the TRX -- you hook it to the door and do all kinds of bodyweight exercises. Handy!
Tell us where you're going...

Holy cow... I'm sold. I have to head to eBay now to look for this thing.
I've also heard Tracy Anderson's videos are awesome AND fun. (She's Gwyneth's trainer.)
