Kiki,
I had never used hot oil either... it was not as scary as I anticipated. But now what to do with all the oil?

Emily,
They weren't exactly as I expected... I just used a recipe I found online... they tasted exactly like funnel cake. Which is good because that taste is more sickeningly sweet than regular donuts so I didn't have to eat them all.

Marie,
Yes... Mr F was thrilled when he came home to find those on the counter.

Keep the oilin a container with a lid out of direct sunlight. Reuse it to fry anything else you want...You just can't fry in the same oil if you fry seafood first, and you can't reuse if you get alot of flour at the bottom of the pot. Eventually you will get a got dark roux on the bottom, and go you can separate it out and keep it to make a GOOD cajun gumbo. I have a GREAT recipe, as hubby s cajun if you want. :)

Could you donate it to someone who uses it as fuel? I don't know if that's an easy solution... My mom freezes oil in an old can, then throws it out. Solidified. At least temporarily.
