Life's Great Mysteries

"What am I going to be when I grow up?"  Baby asks during dinner.

"What do you mean?"  I inquire.

"I mean, am I going to be a giant, a dwarf, or normal?"  Baby clarifies, somewhat gravely.

There were a lot of questions leading up to this all week, so I guess I should have seen it coming. She has definitely had giants & little people on her mind and not only didn't know if she was one but also seemed to think you could turn into one. She had mentioned off hand the other day "well you might shrink" and I told her that No, people don't shrink. She had also asked why no one keeps people for pets. When I explained that there weren't any animals both bigger and capable of domesticating humans (I did think of Gulliver's Travels though!) she said "Well, Giants are!". I had to explain that there are no giants like she is thinking of just people with giantism. It really makes you think about all the little things you take for granted in your life that could be terrifying your 6 year old.
