More Fashion Assistance Is Needed.. Stat

Here is the deal.. I have NO pants that fit. Seriously. I spent about an hour trying on pants a few weeks ago and went home with a pair of Calvin Klein jeans that are in reality too big.. recreating this classic look. Thankfully leggings are cheap and plentiful at Target. So until I can find good fitting pants these have kind of become a rotational staple.
The problem is they are cropped and it is freezing out. So what do I wear on my feet? I don't really have anything but these crazy (so 2 years ago) pink Uggs... And I know what you are all thinking "Mrs F if you got them on sale at TJ Maxx two years ago then they are so 3-4 years ago minimum and you look like an ass"It is possible I just look like a retard and the boots are the least of my problems... but there is really nothing new about that!

You don't look like a retard...you look like a skinny bitch! :)

Yep. Skinny bitch is what I was thinking, too. Congratulations!

Skinny Bitch, yet elfish. Is this for general errand running? If so, you'll have a coat over your outfit, right?

Try zappos.com for boots. They have gazilions, and the shipping is free both ways so you can buy several, choose the one you like best, and send back the rest. You can also restrict your search to your size and color preferences. Shopping for those who hate shopping but love the internet. Perfect. Love them.

I say go for just a couple of pairs of more expensive jeans/cords, as they always fit better. I finally broke down this year for the first time and bought jeans that cost more than $19.99. It's amazing the difference. You need to try some Seven brand jeans. They don't fit me AT ALL because I'm too hippy and thigh-y, but they are perfect for your very slim self. I've seen them sometimes at places like Marshall's (where they'll still be $100). My best friend (5'2, approx 105lbs) swears by Club Monaco. Her cords/pants always fit great.

indeed... coat over outfit ...long not short coat

mommytime,
good tips.. I do so hate shopping. zappos.. free shipping both ways?.. fantastic! I will look into the Seven and Club Monaco. I do find that finding the brands that fit best is the most frustrating part so that helps. Especially since I lack hips but am wide-waisted (plus can't do a real low-rise due to flappy tummy). Maybe if I can pull myself together one day I'll go out to the Nordstrom Rack outlet I assume they'd have those brands.

okay just ordered 3 pairs of boots!

Oh, NO!!! I was about to tell you that the only boots that you can really wear with leggings without looking like a total dork are ankle boots. Always go with flats. You have to buy yourself some pants, Elf Girl. Try J. Crew. Trust me on this. I buy jeans that cost anywhere from $200 to $40, and while the pricey ones do fit better, of the lower-end, J. Crew has the best fit for girls like us with no hips. Their cords rock, too. They are a major staple for m in the winter.

Please go with me on this. I'm a total shoe/fashion whore. I know of what I speak.

I'm goin with Deb on this one. Flats with the leggings. If you're gonna shell out the big bucks for the jeans, have you considered going the custom route?

Have you tried zafu?
I've never bought jeans off of there, but my sister-in-law swears by it.

Agreed on the high quality at Jcrew. I'll send you a secret sale link now!

Oh believe me I felt like an idiot.. but you know what?.. when I actually went out last night to go to WHole Foods.. what did I see but two young women sporting the same look. Which although didn't look good on them.. at least I wasn't the only freak!

J Crew.. yeah I'm going to try.. I used to love them.. but I'm not sure the rise is right for my tummy issue. It doesn't matter how thin you are you can have unslightly muffintop if the rise is wrong!

lol though guys.. this will teach you to check my blog EARLIER in the day!

This was a fun one to read--the comment trail and all. I am with Matt. While you look skinny and fit--a good thing--the very first thing that popped into my head on picture #1 was the word 'elf.' Which made me think of Legolas. Which made me drool. But back to you... Not your best look. Again--not for your body, which looks *hot*--but just doesn't do it for me style-wise. I am currently in a 3 year frumpy phase, so who am I to judge, right? But I can only like leggings in a few select cases. Do like the shirt. Keep shopping!

Ok,you are totally hot. TOTALLY. But I'm gonna say go for a longer sweater or shirt with the leggings. I'm a firm believer that leggings should show no crotch.

Mrs Furious said...

Amy L,

I hear you on the crotch.. crotch does say "part-time weirdo"...it was kind of reminding me of my old trainer when she was trying to look nice.. and that is not necessarily a good look. But I have to say I love the leggings.. and I just can't deny it!

i love leggings. you should buy a 3-pack from american apparel the online store. they are still sorta pricey but worth it! and they go all the way down to your feet. :)

Mrs Furious said...

eurydice,
sounds like something Mr F could get me for Christmas..

I can't find full length here (which is odd seeing how cold it is) but my friend in NYC says they are everywhere.

I can't allow you to go out in public like that. Always wear flats w/leggings unless you are an uber-fashionista, then you can do those ankle boots with heels. Otherwise, it's time to find some new jeans.

Trust me on this.

Sincerely,

The SAHM Fashion Whore of the Twin Cities

OMG... I already responded to this? I am seriously losing my sh*t.

Mrs Furious said...

deb,
lol.. I see you have really strong feelings about this! ;)

Now when I was out.. not just at WFS but also buying an xmas tree and at the gas station I saw a fair number of young women wearing leggings with Uggs (okay not short pink ones.. I realize those look terrible). No obvioulsy inside or like at an indoor event I would wear my ballet flats.. but it is fucking freezing out and that is not going to happen on errands. So I think you need to come up with another shoe alternative. Get back to me when you've found the right outdoor boot.

Deb said...

LOL... you're coming at this all wrong. It's not about finding the perfect boot. I'm tellin' ya, there ain't none. You have to ditch the leggings.

Mrs Furious said...

Deb
it is not going to happen.. and I'm going to keep posting pics of me in them so you are going to have to get used to it!
