BEHOLD!

It may have taken me THREE years to complete but, people, I have finally finished Kid's blanket.
Sure I started it when we were first thinking of transitioning her to a "big girl" bed at age 2... which of course didn't happen until age 3 anyway. And yes I was able to get it 85% percent complete in a matter of days only to leave it floundering in that condition... usable yet unwashable due to the not quite completed quilting... for the last few years. Until now. Behold a freshly laundered fully quilted crib sized Pooh blanket loving crafted by yours truly. Does it matter that she is now in a real twin sized bed? NO. Or that she isn't exactly in love with Pooh? NO. What matters is... I FINISHED SOMETHING.

Looks so cute! I have been so busy, I have not been able to keep up with the comments. They have been riveting though! I am going to try to catch up today.

It's BEAUTIFUL!

Or that she isn't exactly in love with Pooh?

I'm a Pooh freak. Just today, my sweatshirt, watch, socks, earrings, and coat (it was 32 degrees out this morning! bbbrrr....) are all Pooh. So if she hates it, send it down, LOL. (With my cookies...)

It is beautiful and I love it! My kids all still love their baby blankets, they use them to snuggle on the couch or wrap up their stuffed animals and baby dolls.I'm sure kid will appreciate it :)

Thanks guys!
Kid actually said "Oh there's my pooh quilt!" when she came down this morning... so I'm thrilled.

Michelline,
yeah sorry about the cookies... I kind of got overwhelmed with xmas stuff and never made sugar cookies. Next time I make 'em I'll send some your way though.

Super cute! I love the rainbow trim.

Speaking of cookies (and since you are the kitchen goddess,) do you have a good recipe for sugar cookies? For Kara's birthday, I want to make iced sugar cookies for party favors. You know...the kind you cut out and have the hard icing (royal icing?) I've never made them, so any recipes or tips would be great. Thanks!!

You know how to make sugar cookies that don't just turn into blobs after being cooked???? I NEED to know!! My dd's love to make them, but ours always start out as stars, hearts, etc but end up as blobs. Big freakin blobs. And LOVE the blanket! I made my older 2 toddler-sized blankets and they love them...of course I need to make my 3rd one, too, but I'm slacking on that one... And your binding is great! (mine suck).

Marie,

here they are:

Cut Out Sugar Cookies

3/4 c butter, softened
1 c sugar
2 eggs
1 t vanilla
2 & 3/4 c all-purpose flour
1 t baking powder
1 t salt

In large bowl of an electric mixer, beat butter and the 1 c sugar until creamy; beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, stir together flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually add to butter mixture, blending thoroughly, to form a soft dough. Cover tightly with plastic wrap and refrigerate until firm (at least 1 hour) or for up to 3 days.
On a floured board, roll out dough, a portion at a time, to a thickness of 1/4 inch (just less than a cm), keep remaining portions refrigerated. Cut out with cookie cutters and place slightly apart on ungreased baking sheets.
Bake in a 400 degree oven for 8 minutes or until edges are just beginning to turn golden.
*I like mine soft, so I try and get them out just before they develop any color, this a batch to figure out exact timing (6-8 min)

I'll do a video one day when I make them again... maybe Valentine's Day.
