The Ways In Which I Have Been Wronged Today

So let me start this off with a gentle reminder that I had been up with Baby ten freaking times last night. Believe it. Damn teething has started up again. And so I DESERVED to be able to sleep in a little bit this morning... in fact sleeping in a bit was imperative.

Okay Baby got up at 9:15 AM. Blurry eyed and wobbly I wake up Mr F and hand off the sleepless one. I stumble back in bed. Apparently Mr F decided to play with her at the bottom of the goddamn stairs (or as close to the stairs as humanly possible). This resulted in a very restless sleep for me as I was constantly being woken up by her delightful shrieks.

We had a brunch date at 11:30 AM. Having been woken up for the umpteenth time I look at the clock. Shit. 11 AM. Well obviously there was no point in rolling back over. I dragged myself out of bed. I manage to descend the stairs without falling (a considerable feat... I'm really that tired). When I get downstairs I find both girls still in their PJs. No big surprise but it pissed me off none the less. We have to leave in less than half an hour and they aren't dressed. Thanks.

Channeling Kate, I tell Mr F to get them dressed "RIGHT NOW" and proceed for the shower. Hmm... no hot water... not exactly rejuvenating. While I'm getting dressed I hear Kid having a melt down "I want Mom to do it!". I poke my head out. A thought occurs to me (I don't want to believe this could be true but I ask anyway)... "Did you feed them breakfast?". "They didn't want any." was Mr F's lame ass response.

They didn't want any breakfast?!?! Kids who are tantruming about tights are hungry kids. Period. Thanks for nothing.

oooooh. My head would have exploded. In fact, the only meal I can depend on my kids being excited to eat is breakfast.

I think it would be appropriate for you to also channel some of those "smacks" Kate likes to give Jon.... no offense, Mr. F, but........

I think Mr. F is the bees knees, I really do. I also love my own husband to the end of the Earth and think he is one of the most admirable people in the world. But WTF is wrong with you two? I know it's your gender and you can't held fully responsible, but this is precisely the kind of stuff my husband does on the weekends, too.

P.S. Those teak saucers are TO DIE FOR. I'll buy them from you.

Yes, I blew it...

Somedays he is a full on idiot.
Seriously you'd think we hadn't been doing this parenting thing for 5.5 years. Rule #1: feed them.

Deb,
Do you seriously want the saucers? There are 8 but many have worn edges and have a rubbed through brown edge.
God now that someone wants them I want them. I'm going to purge if it takes every ounce of will power I have left!

LOL... Perceived value goes up whenever someone else wants your crap. You look at it and think, "Wait... am I missing out on something? Are they really great?" I used to think that about ex-boyfriends, too.

Yeah, I'll take 'em!

Oh I know all about this shit. Yup, I love it when I think I have a couple of hours in the morning "off" only to discover it is really just been delayed...to start when I get downstairs.

Oh, man, do I know that game. There are many, but the classic for me was when I had returned to work after my 3rd kid and was pumping but also supplementing. My sons were at Grandma's, so the baby (around 4 months I guess) was home and I called my husband to say that it looked like I was going to be a bit late as I was finishing up a submission for work. I said," will you be able to handle everthing or should I ask the nanny to stay a bit longer?" I was assured that everything would be ok- again basing my decision on the apparently faulty logic that we already had two kids, so 2 hours wouldn't kill him. Anywho, get home, he's on the veranda with baby crying in a way which I had rarely heard and as I approach, I review the questions, he says he has no idea why she is crying, there is nothing obvious wrong. My subsequent question: "Well, what time did she eat?" The panicked blank stare I got in response gave us both our answer! Classic.

Julie,
exactly. That is exactly how I feel about any morning "off"... everything still needs to be done just with grumpier kids and faster in order to get on with the day. It is rarely worth the extra sleep!

Canteloupe,
That is freaking classic. CLASSIC.
Why do men not ever think of the food aspect? I just don't get it. When there is something off with the kids the FIRST thing I do is feed them.

Oh dear, that would make me a lil stabby.

SFG,
"a little stabby"... I like it. There are times when Mr F is lucky I don't have a loaded weapon on hand ;)
