My parents Golden Retriever did this the other day. We were outside and he seemed like he was on a mission and didn't want us to find out. Guess who ratted him out? Yup, the baby. He ran over to me and said, "Mommy, Bailey eated up the poop". You're right, but the big dogs live forever too!!
