Oops I Did It Again

Peanut Butter & Chocolate Candy Bars

1/2 c granulated sugar
1/2 c Karo syrup (dark or light)
1/2 c peanut butter
3 c rice krispies (I used brown rice crispy cereal... cause you know that made it healthy)
1.5 c chocolate chips
1/4 c peanut butter

Melt together the sugar and Karo syrup in a pan stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove pan from heat and stir in 1/2c peanut butter until thoroughly combined. Stir in the cereal and coat completely. Pour the cereal mixture into a BUTTERED 9x9 pan... pressing it into place.

In the microwave melt the chocolate chips and the remaining peanut butter. Do this in short intervals and remove before completely melted. Stir to melt evenly. Pour over cereal mixture. Place pan in refrigerator until chocolate is set (about 30 minutes).

I cut these into 48 very small pieces... and then I ate 24 of them ;)

holy crap. . .
i must have those.

guess that's all the motivation this post-vacation girl needs to get her butt to the grocery store.

btw, a cruise is NOT the way to go if you are into eating healthy foods, and dieting unless you have REALLY good self control. . .

Be warned these are addictive!

Mmmmmmm...thank god I hate my closet sized kitchen...it keeps me from baking stuff like that. How deelicious do they look!

Sorry you're having a stressball time -- I'd come help you chuck things if you weren't half a country away, and all.

The brown crispy rice is like brown rice, right? Oh and the peanut butter makes it totally diet friendly, no?

Mrs Furious said...

Kiki,
yes it is brown rice Krispies (from Whole Foods). Yeah brown rice, peanut butter... who's really counting the sugar and chocolate ;)

Haley,
Lord knows if you were closer I'd be taking you up on your offer. Although being at my house might sabotage your diet plans even further ;)

You would be proud of me today...I am snacking on hummus and homemade pita chips, baked not fried!!!

I love this recipe but will file it for when the neices and nephews come for a visit at the end of the month!!!!

Not to stress you out, but is there a date that this has to be wrapped up by? Our house, new one, will be ready September/October because that is when the eagles come back to nest, so our house, old one, has to be sold by then!!!

Kiki,
Mr F is moving July 4th.
We're trying to get everything ready to put the house on the market while we're on vacation (June 11-16th). In an ideal world we'd get an offer before July... and close end of July. Then we could buy a new house and close Aug 1st. He'll be able to house hunt and stuff while he's there that month.

I did find a 4 leaf clover last week... so... you never know ;)

If that doesn't workout then we'll move Aug 1st into a rental in Asheville until we sell our house. I want Kid to get settle with a least a couple of weeks before Kindergarten starts.

Wow, a four leaf clover, I do think that means something good is in store for you...I know you have a lot on your plate today, take care friend...be thinking of you, wish I could come help!!!

Mrs Furious said...

Kiki,
get this: I found it in our own backyard. The very next day is when Mr F negotiated the higher offer.

Thanks for the well wishes! I need them... the kids are making me crazy ;)

Kiki said...

When I was little I used to find four leaf clovers, it was a joke in my family that you could send me out and I would come back with a bouquet of them....haven't found any in a long time, so in your own backyard sounds like a lot of good luck is what's in store for you guys!!!!

I saw Miss Charlotte giving you a time in that video, she already wants the big girl shoes....you'll be in trouble for sure when she gets older!!!

Oh and are you having trouble with statcounter today??? I can't load the page and the icon is missing from my blog!!! Weirdness there!

HC said...

Oh dude, I'm all cracked out on pseudoephedrine b/c of the crazy pollen -- I would have that basement cleared out in 7 minutes flat in this roid rage.

Hey! I have been away for a few days scoping out the VT thing and have totally missed out on all of this. I will catch up tomorrow with the reading and watching of videos. But first, the hair looks sweet:)
2nd, holy crap, Mr F is moving July 4th?! 3rd, you are cracking me up with all the baking. What are you trying to use up all of your food? :)

I will get back to the food diary tomorrow. I can see you are staying on plan as well with all the baked goods:)

Deb said...

I could be coaxed into traveling and cleaning basements for a few pans of those.

Now I have to avoid the grocery store tomorrow. Thanks for the excuse!

Mrs Furious said...

Julie,
I had a feeling you were in VT. Sounds like you're getting serious about it.

Deb,
I'm always here to help ;)

Hey Mrs. F,
I think i already commented but i have to say again that your hair looks awesome.
Secondly, On the list of ingredients it says 1/4c of peanut butter, then in your directions it says put in 1/2c peanut butter. Does this mean i put in half of the 1/4c, or am i interpreting this incorrectly? This is probably easy for all of those veteren bakers out there but as a beginner i have to be very precise (sp) or well... it just tastes badly. Although, with my love for peanut butter, in this case more could be a good thing. :) Thanks, Have a great day.

AshinMT said...

Shit i just re-read the recipe and i see that the peanut butter is listed twice 1/2c and 1/4c... its all coming together.... :) Sorry about that!

Mrs Furious said...

AshinMT,
no problem..
in the sugar syrup mix in 1/2 c peanut butter
in the chocolate mix in 1/4 c peanut butter

you'll need 3/4 c total

Hey, hang in there!

I know mom would LOVE to steal your children.... erm, help you pack or watch them, or clean whatever you need. She's an excellent packer. I still try to get her to pack my stuff whenever I leave home. (Ah the life of an urban nomad)

Mrs Furious said...

Elizabeth,
Your mom left me a message last night... I'll call her back right now! I'd love for her to kidnap the kids ;)

Andrea said...

Mrs Furious said...

Andrea,
Oh God... these are ridiculous...
And they didn't even take 10 minutes to make!

angie said...

dude. thank you so much. my mom used to make these and i always wondered how to do it. you just made my freaking week.

Alexandra said...

I'm a little late on this, but these are exactly what a friend's mom (in high school) used to make, except she used butterscotch chips instead of peanut butter. The four of us could eat an entire pan in one day.

Yum!

Mrs Furious said...

AT22,
YUM! I'm out of peanut butter... but guess what I've got in the pantry?.. yep... 1/2 bag of butterscotch chips.
I'm off to go make them RIGHT NOW!!!
Thanks :)
