Cooking With Kid... Crafty Style

Crusty Critters

first off hire a sassy looking sous chef... it helps

blend in large bowl:
3 c all purpose flour (I used bread flour)
1.5 t salt
1.5 t sugar

dissolve 2 t yeast in 1 c warm water
add to flour mixture and stir to combine until it forms a ball (you may need a bit more water)

knead on lightly floured surface for 5 minutes... being careful not to add too much flour

let rise in oiled bowl for 30 minutes

punch down dough and divide into 6 equal pieces.

shape into animals (basically oval rolls... it's not rocket science)

place on parchment lined baking sheet (or oiled)

let rise 30 minutes

bake in 375 degree oven until golden (about 17 minutes)

Enjoy!

They're all so adorable (children and bread animals, alike). I'm digging Baby's color-coordinated binky and glasses. That girl knows how to accessorize.

YUMMY!

Lil O made a strawberry cake today. I just let her use a strawberry muffin mix with her kiddie pans in the toaster oven. Ha Ha

Love the bread animals! But I love Kid's happy, smiling face even more!

Thanks for the recipe. Definitely need to try that.

Thanks everyone!

This was actually easy to do. And some of you may recall that cooking with Kid can be trying on my patience... so... I'm being serious.

FYI use currants or snip your raisins in half.

Marie,
nice ears ;)

So cute! My youngest would love to do this! Although there is the chance he might get attached to them and rather play with them than eat them. Oh, I'm serious. I can see it now, stale bread mice in his bed...

Gigs,
LOL... Kid thought they were for playing with. I didn't realize that until they were cooling and I told her they were for dinner. She was a bit alarmed. But once she ate one she got over it. She took one to school for lunch to show off ;)

It did remind me that you can bake playdough. So maybe we'll do that with smaller versions. I think I remember baking and painting playdough ornaments as a kid.

fun! although I have a feelng my kid won't eat it and will save it with the million other things he won't eat or throw away.

OK that thing looks too real. I would be freaked out eating it. LOL

Cara,
Is that a real site?! I'm going to check it out!

Is it sad that I want to make these and I have no kids?

Also cuteoverload.com is a) real and b) so cute you may need to pack insulin.

yes I finally got the treadmill! We just got it hooked up and I even had Eric install the TV on a wall mount in the playroom. It is awesome, I have the perfect set-up! Today is my first day to test it out! My goal is to walk outside or on the treadmill daily. Wish me luck!
