While I was away Mr F transformed my room from this:
To this:
Sometimes when Mr F paints a room while I'm gone (which is our usual arrangement since it keeps the kids out of the room) I end up being disappointed in the paint color. I pick them out but when you are going by a chip and not a full wall you can be slightly off. Once it's painted it's painted and Mr F is not going to repaint it just to appease me (believe me I lived with the wrong purple in our dining room for 7 years)... so I was thrilled that this turned out to be exactly what I wanted!! Yay!

well done, mr. f. stellar paint selection, mrs. f. glad you made it back safe and sound.
LOVE IT!!!!!! Great color!
I am glad you are home! I think I need adult Rachel time! Want to plan a pedicure when the men can watch the youngins?
Michelle :)
Wow, that looks great! What a nice color :)
Looks good! Glad you're back from your trip!
I wish we came back to a clean house, but alas. . .
Amazing! I would be thrilled if Hubby would clean something when I am not home...let alone PAINT! You have a good man!
Oooh! It looks so wonderful! Way cool. Good job, Mr. F!
Loving it people! The pictures cannot do it justice since it was dark out and that is all flashed out... but it is so nice (and clean) and really transformed the room. I'm not a huge fan of browny beige! Not to mention all the purple stuff looked like hell... and I really needed that to work since it's what we've got.
Supermom,
Oh I'm wide open!!
I love the color. Also, really loving the cute bedside chair :)
I love that color...I am huge fan of white trim, it looks so clean and crisp!!!! That headboard is divine and the chair...was that in another room in the house and Mr F just brought it in, because it looks fabulous there!!
Nice job Mr. F...you are knocking it out of the park lately!!! Mrs.F, you clearly have good taste, the color is spot on!!!
Kiki,
The headboard is a quilted white Ballard Designs headboard. Their actually not terribly expensive.
The chair is an antique nurses chair that my grandmother grew up with. I did have it in there before he painted... what you can't tell is that it is a whitish fabric with a pale grey print. It looks good.
Oh yeah that is good stuff...I'll check out BD now because Ken and I need a headboard in the worst way!!! The fact that the chair is from your family...I love it even more now!!! Gorgeous!!
Supermom, wish I could come for the pedi, my toesies are in need of some attention...have fun girls!!!
welcome back to the Tar Heel state. How do you feel about the warmer weather? I'm ambivelent, I like it, but feel like it's not actually November...
Did you get my email? Or should I resend it? I may have your 'real' one somewhere in the depths of my mailbox.
Elizabeth,
I sent you an email tonight.
I'm not into the weather. I'd rather it either be warmer or colder... but it is just damp and grey and kind of cold.
Got it! sorry, hadn't checked email today. Too busy becoming more of a nerd (my friends are getting me into Dr. Who. New series)
must perfect my nerdliness!
Beautiful color!!
BTW, I liked the purple in your old dining room.
Looks fantastic!
I wish I could just come home to a newly painted room...that is awesome!
Yay for good suprises!
I thought of you this morning. As we drove home from spending Thanksgiving in Florida with family and started driving back to Texas, we passed an RV on the freeway that had this URL spelled out on the back... www.FieldTripUSA.blogspot.com I checked it when we got home tonight and it looks like they are a pretty cool family. =)
Mrs F does a good job on the color selections to be sure. For the record, I didn't mind the dining room color in the old house at all (too purple/not enough gray for her).
A fringe benefit of having a totally anal, task-specific dad was the fact that I am a very good painter. I don't have the patience to do all the prep-work he would do, and time constraints and ADD combine to ensure there's always some little thing that needs to get finished up at a later date that never arrives...but I'm usually very proud of my work, and pleased with Mrs F's color.
Also, I cannot say enough about this Mythic® paint. We are using it because it is totally non-toxic and VOC-free, but it actually is beautiful and easy to work with.
It costs more than "normal" paint—$40/gallon or so—but is worth the money. No fumes at all, no off-gassing. If you have little kids, babies, pregnant moms, pet birds...there is no excuse for using anything else.
Mr. F. thanks for the recommendation on the paint. I just brought home paint chips this weekend, none for VOC-free paint (duh!).
P/F,
they can match any color with the Mythic paint. We had a Behr chip.
Maybe it's the lighting, but I think the new paint even makes the bedspread prettier.
Carrie,
that was the worst part of living in the brown room... all my bedding was geared toward a robin's egg blue room with white trim. It looked like hell in the brown.
Gorgeous. I love the color too, and it looks great with your furniture and bedding!
Props to Mr. F. Next time your in town stop by. I can give you a whole house to do...
Very nice!! I like it!
I like it I see more of the grey or is it gray anyhow it looks fantastic. So Mr.F would you say I could paint a rooma dn sleep in it that night or would it still need to air out.
Love it.
oooh i like it. my living room is a stone colour like that.
