Who Said Muffintops Aren't Hot

Kid had a lunch time playdate today with a friend after school today. I was in such a rush to get her (having completely forgotten that she in fact had a half day of school today) that I left a pot of boiling water on the stove while I was out. So when I finally got back and realized what I'd done I was a bit frazzled. Fortunately we were only gone about 20 minutes or so and I had left the lid on so we didn't burn down the house.

I proceeded to make the kids pasta and was still kind of shaky I suppose because when the buzzer sounded and I went to drain the pasta.... I inadvertently missed the sink by about 2 inches. And I poured boiling water directly on my MUFFINTOP... you know... because it was sticking out that extra inch or so.

Boiling water is motherfucking hot folks. And since I was holding the pot I couldn't immediately remove the shirt that was now soaked in boiling water and was continuing to cook my flesh. By the time I realized the reason it was still burning was due to the shirt it was too late and I had really burned my skin.

Thank god it was on my stretch marks and not my virgin flesh or I'd be really pissed right now.

omg OWWWW. That is all I have to say. I am having sympathy pains while I type this.

Ouch!!! I'm sorry to hear that!

The other day I was pouring hot water out of the kettle into my Sigg Mugg, and missed. Poured the water straight onto my stocking-ed feet. Same effect as the muffintop/shirt combo.

OW.

Sorry!

Eeeeek -- sympathy pain!

I'm trying out your brown sugar-ginger salmon recipe tonight. Couldn't lay hands on ground coriander for the life of me, so I'm going without -- hope it's not a super key ingredient... I wish adam would get here already, I'm starving!!

Haley,
you couldn't find ground coriander?!! Next time you hit a whole foods they should have it.

And it should be fine.

Sarah,
Oh it hurt. And the worst part is that I was too embarrassed to make a big deal out of it in front of Kid's friend's mom.

Torey,
Dude you kind of forget how much hotter boiling water is than hot water... until it's on you.

I totally burned my fat belly (back when it was quite a bit fatter actually *does little happy dance*) by reaching for something over the stove. I totally leaned my potbelly onto a pot and had a little burn mark there for about a year.

that sure felt stupid.

I've got some awsome scars from work (Mostly on my left hand because my right hand has it out for my left) but that seems much less stupid.

Oh my goodness. I hope you and your (come on....nonexistant) muffintop are ok!

Me, Myself & I,
I guess any size muffintop is a hazard when your pouring boiling water on it ;)

Elizabeth,
"I totally burned my fat belly"
OH that totally made me LOL!

Very true Mrs. F! I really do hope you are doing ok. Have you tried another stiff drink? That could work wonders I am sure!

Me, Myself, & I,
Sadly Kid had her very first sleepover (at our house) and I have to be responsible ;)

Dude, a sleepover that starts at lunchtime and includes time the following day can calculate out to about 24 hours of playdate. You are fearless...

Sorry about the burn...But at least you had the foresight not to blurt out curses and immediately stripped down in the kitchen. That might not have made the right impression on the guest's mom!

Hope all continues to go well with Ruby and her (lack of) meds. We're thinking of you guys.

OH my gosh! Mrs. F! I did this SAME thing a couple years ago. Except I burned my thigh. I have pictures to prove it!

I swear kids can drain our brains and this can be harmful to a mother's health!

Dude, the salmon roooooocked. Very big hit -- this is going in the rotation!

Mrs Furious said...

Gigs,
Oh yeah.. it was pretty hard to address my problem and not draw attention to what was going on!

so far so good on the meds... we wait...

Haley,
Awesome! I'm glad it turned out for you.

Dana,
Ouch. I will spare you all the shot of my gut ;)
