Providential

In a strange twist of fate I received an email from a teacher at Kid's school today. She is having a baby and looking for a home based daycare setting... for only the 160 days that they have school.

Not quite 6 hours before I received that email, I had just been talking about how I'd love to have just ONE kid to watch during the day. But, I lamented, I didn't want to be tied down during the long summer break. I told Mr F "wouldn't it be great if I could get a teacher's kid?".

They can't afford to pay what I would have asked. They can't even afford minimum wage. But it's money and you know we need it! And it will be good for Baby to have some company around. It isn't enough to pay for Kid's tuition... but it will certainly help ease the financial burden.

Anyone who knows will tell you it is very hard for teachers to find a daycare that doesn't make them pay to hold their child's spot year round. I imagine it is just as hard to find a child to watch whose parent's don't mind you closing for 3 months in the summer. This would truly be a win-win situation!

Getting to love on a baby (after the colicky period no less) and not have to night parent them (or travel with them)?!! It's almost my dream come true.

Supermom,
Tell me about it. It's like getting to have a baby part time!

BsOnlyToots,
Mr F and I are still reeling from the bizarre timing. I really hope it works out!

I have to tell you I absolutely LOVE how you reply to every person that leaves you a comment .. I haven't been following you for very long, I stumbled upon your blog by accident, and I have gone back and read everything and totally caught up! LOL I honestly do not follow ANY blogs except yours, never have followed any. I am amazed at how honest, sincere and REAL you are. I see sooo many things that I feel myself, that you deal with also. I have 5 children, and think of raising children as you do, I also have the 'pain-to-get-along-with inlaws! And all the other everyday mommy issues! I love reading everyday and am now TOTALLY hooked! Thanks!

BsOnlyToots,
Oh thank you. Can I tell you they didn't even call today to wish Baby a happy birthday.
5 kids... wow! This babysitting would be the perfect solution for me... since I wish I could have another but Mr F says he can't handle more than 2 without losing his mind ;)

HAHA once you get past 2, you don't feel the 'pain' anymore! LOL Once I had my 3 I was like, eh, not too much different, then out came 3 & 4 and still the same. Just a few more diapers to change and a little more planning when going out, but for the most part the sanity it still CRAZY! lol My inlaws would do the SAME thing, hubby calls them to tell them to call and say happy bday for the kids! If I didn't know better I'd say we have the same ones! :D I'm glad I'm not the only one with crazy inlaws! lol

Mrs Furious said...

Crazy inlaws... No... You are definitely not alone. ;)

that is great, damn if there was just someway SINCE it is a teacher you are helping out they could give you a break on the tuition. OR The teacher could give you her discount.

Andrea said...

awesome I hope this works out, it sounds like a win win!

Mrs Furious said...

Feener,
"The teacher could give you her discount."
Dude... I was thinking the same thing!

Andrea,
cross your fingers. cause it's cash money ;)

I babysit for one baby...and this is a very close friend and I love it. I know that she isn't mine so the weekends are free and the nights are blissfully quiet. But I get some baby time...remember I had triplets...so it is alittle different just to have one! I take her everywhere with me...the mom is stillnot comfortable taking her places...the extra money is great too!
I am a firm believer in everything happens for a reason!

This is mydream come true...well, it didn't come true for me, but I so want to take care of a baby for little bit, but not have them at night or on weekends. I have a friend who takes care of a friend's baby and loves it. Her kids are older so she gets the whole little one experience again.

This is kismet. I am so happy for you. Oh boy, I hope she is not a weirdo. But, can you imagine the blogging then! That teacher will be so stoked to have you taking care of her little baby...you are such a good momma to your girls!

Oh Mrs.F, This sounds perfect...I might be jealous of your great gig!!!!! I'm sure it'll be great and thank goodness you'll have your summers free to travel!!!

Kniki said...

Excellent news - so glad to hear of something good coming through for you! You will be great at it too - anyone would be lucky to have you taking care of their child, I know you will do a fantastic job!

Well that's good news. Maybe something will pan out!!

That is so awesome!!! Congrats on the baby gig!

Wow!! That is amazing. I'm a little jealous, too. I've been feeling the baby jones for a little while, but I'm trying to ride it out.

Aw! God will always take care of His children Mrs. F. :)

For the record ... I am a 36 year old woman and I LOVE Max and Ruby and I think your house ROCKS!

lol

That's awesome! And if she turns out to be a freak, you can just quit!

Claire said...

This is so fabulous! I am so happy for you - and if she is weird you can write it all down and turn it into a sitcom for TV - bigger audience than Seinfeld!!!

I highly recommend that all the people who want to take care of a baby, please contact me as soon as possible ;) I'll definitely help you out!

Mrs F -- I'm not super religious but sometimes, you just gotta wonder. There's something about putting something out in the universe or turning it over to God... fascinating. So excited for you!!

WOW-What a strange twist of fate, indeed...and once again, you seem to be reading my mind...ironically, husband and I have been discussing this exact same scenario for me as far as my possibly watching a child here at the house esp. once C starts kindergarten to have a little independence and extra money...this sounds like a great opportunity for you and a win-win...you get the benefits of a baby once again (they grow up way too fast!)without the negatives (ie-sleepless nights, etc.)!!! Like you said, part time baby-what could be better!!! :) You are most certainly in need of something POSITIVE for a change so this sounds like it is it and an ideal solution for you and something that will be fun and enable you to still be a stay at home Mom for your Kid and Baby. Go for it! :)

That sounds so great! How old is the baby? (did you already say that somewhere? I can't find it.) Also, don't you think it will eb some entertainment for baby to have another little one in the house? Seems PERFECT. yea!

Mrs Furious said...

Gooddog,
The baby (a boy) is due 6/2 so he'll be just under 3 months when he starts coming. So if he's here for the school year he'll be 3-10 months.... which is ideal. Cute and they still nap 2 x a day!!

Liz,
Yes I imagine for you it is a fairly easy task to care for just one!

Julie,
Hey... no one's stopping you. I'm sure you could wrangle a baby up if you wanted to.. especially since you're at the school all the time. Next time you see a preggers teacher put your move on ;)

Kiki,
Isn't it great? I really didn't want to have to give up going back to MI in the summers... and now I wouldn't have to.

Jennifer,
well when Baby kicks it to the curb... maybe I'll send it up to you ;)

Robin,
ride it out ;)

Kniki,
Oh thank you... hopefully she'll feel the same way!

Claire,
LOL

Renee,
Well you can wait and see how it works out for me before you take the plunge ;)

Preppy Mama,
I hope it comes through... it would be such a good arrangement for everyone. Plus it allows me to kind of baby step into the whole full time daycare idea.

M, M & I,
Thanks!

Christy,
It's true... if they are total nut jobs I can always tell them they need to find a full time slot somewhere else.

Heather,
Sometimes things happen that seem pretty predestined...

That would be perfect! I'd love to do that with a teacher's toddler to give mine someone to play with daily. I just don't think I could handle two toddlers with my newborn. Maybe you could take on my newborn, while I load up on toddlers?
