Now You Decide

Well you all may remember the bathing suit debacle of last week.. my coveted suit did finally arrive...

Even on sale this suit is 100 bucks.. which is fine as I feel I've earned it.. but I don't want to keep it unless there is some kind of consensus that it looks the best. Go HERE to review my old suits.

Now That Is How We Do It Marital Bliss Style

So right after I flipped Mr F the bird, and after we stopped laughing about it, I was walking up the stairs when I heard
Mr F proclaim...

"ooh we're in love" while he chuckled softly to himself

I called back over my shoulder:
"You're in love with me!"

See Why I Fret?

This is Kid's stocking lovingly handcrafted by moi...

see the bead work?
and hand sewn appliques?
It took me many MANY hours to design, cut, layout, and hand sew Kid's stocking. This is probably my favorite artistic accomplishment. I mean lets face it... it is totally badass!

I have two and a half weeks to do something similar for Baby... or I'm one of those moms... you know who don't love their second kid as much as their first. You know those moms... like your mom... okay maybe just mine.

This is what I've got so far...

Believe It!

So when I woke up this morning this little number was waiting for me...

After a little digestion it seems I didn't gain ANY weight after all. Interestingly Mr F didn't gain any weight on our trip either.

So here is the take away from this... get a pedometer before your next vacation! Obviously it helped that Disney World allows for a pretty active vacation... but with a pedometer anyone can do this. Before we left I wore the pedometer around on my average day and then added in how far I walk during my workouts. For me this equaled 6.5 miles on my typical "workout" day. So I knew that in order to keep my weight in check, when I was most likely eating above my typical calorie limits, I would need to average at least 6.5 miles a day. Well it worked. Now if you are staying at a resort with an exercise facility you maybe able to keep your workouts going.. but if you are traveling about this was a super easy and effective way of staying aware and accountable for my activity. This is especially important when you know you won't have as much control (or want to) of your food. Keep in mind that you need to account for both your typical daily activity on top of your workout activity levels!

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

Let's start with The Good:
Yes... I weighed in at 113 on the day we left and came home less than a pound heavier! This makes me quite pleased. #1 it means that I can have an indiscretion or two (or 6 straight days) and not fall off the wagon. #2 it means that I probably am at a weight I can maintain as long as I keep my activity up. I have no problem having a weight range from 111 to 114.

Now for The Bad:
To mark our arrival back to the North it snowed last night. This sucks in a number of ways:
#1 It is really freaking cold out
#2 Even after warming up the car (yeah that's how we do it Michigan style) for 15 minutes it was still freezing in the car
#3 It takes a good 15 minutes longer to get both kids in their snowsuits and into the car (doubling the normal "getting ready" timing)

And onto The Ugly:
On top of the thrush that BOTH Baby and I have, which requires me to WRESTLE her to the floor... while she struggles and screams... to give her the medicine... But don't worry I only have to give it to her for NINE more days!..Baby has entered the phase of highchair eating that entails the purposeful dropping of food. Never mind that I spent a decent amount of time making her special buckwheat & pear waffles this morning. And sure that is what the splat mat is there for...
but she's got a pretty good arm on her!
Is it wrong to let her eat off the floor?!

Guess Who I Hate Most Right Now

This goddamn asshole:
And don't go feeling sorry for him. This is the same mother fucker who gets to sleep in a bed with humans at night. Who will steal your food off your plate while you are eating it! Who spends his free time trolling for Kleenex, un-flushed toilet paper (what?!?), socks, kids' stuffed animals. The same damn dog who spent his formative years having his own theme songs being sung to him while he slept on my damn pillow!

Well when I loaded up the kids and went to pick him up from the boarder (where we paid extra so he could sit on their damn laps while they worked at the computer... yes... I am serious!) I found out he hadn't been eating. No big surprise.. he is a total drama queen. And again do not pity him they bribed him to eat by filling his bowl with TREATS. Typical. He is such a manipulator!

Anyway... on the way home he was being a total spaz and was hunting down trash and Kid's leftover snacks while I tried to drive yelling "Kid don't let him get the chocolate cookies!!" (that happened before.. and believe me the results were NOT pretty.. you try pouring hydrogen peroxide down a dogs throat..twice!) Anyway the bastard insisted on sitting on my lap making steering..um.. difficult.. and that was pissing me off because the sun was setting and the roads aren't great and I just hate not driving as safely as frickin' possible. Well while prancing around the front seat the douche bag apparently knocked over my leftover coffee... which then spilled all over the floor (and you know how I feel about stains!) and got all over our new garage door manual (don't ask why it is in the car..) and some trash and fruit roll ups. As if my car doesn't smell bad enough already! And yeah I'm sure you don't (won't) let your kids eat in the car.. yeah I thought that too... and then I had a four year old who threw massive tantrums every damn day after school... well.. and that rule got amended pretty damn fast... so get back to me!

Back to the douche... so upon arriving home I had to rush to the kitchen (tracking snow ALL over the house!) to get some paper towels and try to quickly clean up the coffee before #1 the stain set and #2 the smell set. Meanwhile Kid traipses in, and since I was busy, decided to walk ALL through the house in her boots before taking them off in the living room. Once I get everything cleaned up as best as I can I attempt to transfer a sleeping Baby upstairs. Well what do you think that mother fucker did? Yes! He started barking incessantly (as per the norm) at nothing! I swear to God I could have rushed down the stairs and broken his legs! Welcome home you bastard!

The Long Awaited Hotel Organizational Tips

With these rules you too can have an anal vacation!

#1 behold the order and cleanliness of a clean slate..

#2 unpack... EVERYTHING... do not leave socks or floaties or what-have-you in the bottom of your bagverdict: Kid has complied!

#3 put all your toiletries in the bathroom... out of the Ziplocs you packed them in!verdict: guess who did NOT comply? hint: it was Mr F!

#5 everyone gets a drawer and the bottom drawer is for dirty clothes (when there is not enough drawers an empty bag placed in the bottom of a closet can be for dirty clothes)verdict: complied!

#6 shoes go in the closet!
verdict: complied

#7 if you are fortunate enough to have lots of drawers you need a little one for receipts (critical at Disney where you'll get one big bill)verdict: complied!

#8 like items should be stored in the same area!verdict: complied!
verdict: Baby is NOT complying!

#9 trash in the trash canverdict: complied!

#10 do not leave stuff on the floor! (yes I'm aware of the irony of this coming from me)verdict: Mr F has NOT complied!

Here's the deal... you've seen our house. When I'm on vacation what I don't want is a bunch of unseemly chaos. This causes a little bit of tension with Mr F who thinks we are on vacation. What he doesn't know is that this is a test. If we can't keep things picked up and orderly when we are only dealing with our essentials... have like 3 toys.. and don't have to cook then we are freaking doomed! I get a little psychotic about this. What Mr F doesn't like to face is the brutal truth... that he isn't the *clean* one. And trust me this fact is immediately apparent!

Not So White Christmas

White towels have a lot of things going for them.
But maybe the best thing about them is that you can bleach them...

Uh oh... looks like SOMEONE will be getting THIS for Christmas!

Mistakes Number One And Two

So when I was at Target the other day I happened upon a display of these babies...
Yes... Pepperidge Farm Ginger man and Chessmen (although they call them Holiday Butter Cookies) minis. Well you should know that Mr & Mrs F love Pepperidge Farm Ginger Man cookies... LOVE them. And I just couldn't resist the double whammy of both Holiday and Mini marketing. So we walked out of there with both varieties. The problem is I cannot control myself. And as you all know portion control is my strong suit. They are so tiny and so mother fucking delicious that before you know you have had twenty of them. So lesson learned.. when buying mini cookies at Target steer your cart on over to the Ziploc section and get yourself some little snack bags to measure these out in... otherwise you are in for a whole heap of trouble.
Kid F and Mrs F mid chew!
Mrs F indulges in yet another... Kid F gives her fist of approval.

I will also take this time to fill you in on this little Mrs Furious fact:
My Dad's parents (who are 96 and 94 years old) have their refrigerator crisper drawer (yes the one you should have filled with vegetables) entirely filled with Pepperidge Farm cookies... all those white bags stacked one on top of each other. I am completely serious. I have no idea why they refrigerate them... it's not like they go bad.. and at the rate they eat them what would be the point? Now you know why Mrs F has such a sweet tooth. And who said you need to have a well rounded diet? Their diet consists of about 65% cookies and they are doing just fine!

How Crazy Am I?!?!

Okay this will be brief.

Number 1... our hotel is freaking fantastic! We've been to WDW a number of times and by FAR Animal Kingdom Lodge is the coolest. Kid and I spent about 2 hours watching animals in the savanna that comes right up to the hotel! Totally Badass... and you should all know that Mrs F is NOT easily impressed. I'll be more thorough later on.

Number 2... as great as it is there is NO free WiFi... bastards!

Number 3.... I pre-wrote some posts from home (Yes I am a total nerd... and FYI one is of questionable taste) so I will intersperse those when I don't have time to write.

Number 4... I will do my best to return everyone's comments, but if I miss you I am sorry. I kind of owe it to Mr F to be as fast as possible ;)

Okay I'm off to go have fun.

And don't worry I've been documenting the room so I can do my organizational post when we come back for nap...

We're Going To Disney World

(above pics courtesy of our July '07 visit)

That's right. I'm taking you all with me. If you think the Furious shenanigans are entertaining now... just wait to see what "vacation mode" brings.

*******************************************************
We are going to be gone for 7 days. That is long enough to actually do some damage so here are my vacation weight maintenance strategies:

I have a pedometer (thank you Angie) that I will be wearing to keep track of how many miles I put in everyday.
Today was a reasonable normal low activity day for me and I walked 3.00 miles so far just doing stuff around the house. I usually workout for 3.5 miles 4 times a week or so. So I'm going to track that and make sure I'm putting in as much while I'm there (how could I not?) as I do here.

I will not have any soda (the last soda I had was at Disney in July.. go me!) I will drink water, iced tea, and coffee.

I am going to keep my food diary going.

I've brought my Kashi Go Lean bars with me so I won't be tempted to eat unhealthy snacks. (well.. I'll be tempted)

Disney has really big portions so I am going to split my meals with Kid and/or order kid's meals for myself when possible. Buffets?.. yeah that is going to be a little harder.. I'm just going to try and keep to one plate.

I am also going to try and remember, every morning when I see them waiting for me, that a muffin has 500 calories in even Disney World.

*********************************************************
I should note that in the past if Mr F had even thought of bringing a computer on our vacations I would have divorced him. Lucky for all of you I make the rules.... and they don't apply to me!

Guess What...

It didn't come!

So here are the choices...

In theory I like this one.. don't love the color... and as you can see in the last shot it causes a slight muffin top...

This one is a little forgiving in a "maternity" sort of way. I actually don't like the way it ends up clinging to my tummy when it is wet...
This one is best on the tummy... but...ummm... shows a little too much butt cheek..

So Close And Yet So Far Away

So here is where my new bathing suit is right now....

Remember when I posted about how messy the girls were?... only to have it turn out to be the ONE day that they didn't do this to the house....

The Even More About Me Meme

Sometime last week Bi0nicw0man tagged me for another meme. Now you all know I love to go on and on about good old me so of course I'm going to comply with her kind request. I might even tag people at the end of it. But I do think it needs to be said that although I don't mind being tagged I do hate tagging... so if the actual "chain" aspect of these things is important to you then you might want to think twice before you tag me. I'm just sayin'...

Here goes...

Things you might not know about me:

1. I was... at 15 years old... a Charter Subscriber to Martha Stewart Living Magazine ... explains a lot now doesn't it?

2. My parents were married at 19 and separated by 26... they have both been married three times. My Father moved out of state when I was 12. My Mother kicked out my step-father of 11 years while I was on vacation and I never saw him again... he had been my primary caregiver... so you can see that it is completely understandable that I might have some control issues.

3. I went to NYU for both undergraduate and graduate school. When I was there Christy Turlington was also going there. She was taking a class with one of my best friends. One day at dinner some friends were asking him what she wore to class and he said "umm.. lets just say not what "Mrs F" was wearing today". I was of course wearing a pair of jeans (made for a very short fat man) and an oversized black tee shirt that said "Out Of Control" in crazy 80's neon green writing... both of which I had gotten back in Detroit at Value Village.

4. During the summer that I was 20 I went to live in Palo Alto, CA and worked the Bay Area farmer's markets for a crazy Greek family. They were completely out of control and manipulative. I worked from 6 AM to 11 PM EVERYday for $50 a day. I would do a market by myself.. meaning load up all the vegetables (including 60 lb boxes of potatoes and onions) and tents and tables on a flatbed pickup, put in the big metal rails to enclose the flat bed, drive this rickety old jalopy (often with no rearview mirrors) for up to an hour and then set everything up myself. It was no freaking joke! I was in the best shape of my life. I really enjoyed having such a physical job...it literally pushed me to the brink of what I was capable of doing. By the end of the summer I had some serious guns and was a goddamn BADASS!

5. Mr F and I met in dog training class back in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He thought I was 17 and training the family pet... I thought he was my age.. we were both 8 years off. In fact unbeknownst to me at the time I was the one who convinced him to finally end his "going nowhere" 4 year long relationship with my insightful words of wisdom.. "If you don't know by now if you want to live with her then you probably don't." (Now everyone should note that people always tell me the personal details of their lives... we didn't know each other outside of class at all... so I really wasn't fishing for anything I was just calling it like I see it) A few weeks later I ran into him totally assuming he would have moved in with her after all... only to find out they had broken up. We had our first date that night and saw each other EVERY day there after. Our common love of Dr Pepper and my overall weirdness bringing us together.
