One More Thing...

To all you outraged "relations".
Where the hell were you when our family has faced sorrow and unbearable difficulties?
We're you reading the blog?
We're you here lurking bearing witness to the pain of a mother as she cares for her sick child?
And yet never once... never once commenting a supportive comment or sending a thoughtful email.
Shame on you.
Shame on you for looking for the bad in a situation and in someone.

I cannot believe that someone has the fucking audacity to feel outrage that I would complain about a bad brunch, in my personal space in an anonymous format, and yet are able to write this about a person they hardly know:

"Shame on you !! I have been reading you "blog" for months. You are a most selfish wife. And if you were my daugher in law, I would disown you. But that might make you happy. And why would I want to do that. You are a psychotic bitch! You are stuck on only yourself. You are the most disrespectful, stuck up, pompous ass I have ever come across. ( and a lousy housekeeper) I assume that your children suffer for inadequacies. And Mr. F.doesnt seem to have much of a spine either. How dare you throw away gifts from the girls grandmother..no matter how trivial they may seem to you, they meant enough from her to be sent to them. Some day they will see you for the selfish person you are. And your recipes..( If I were you, I would not share them or the the pictures,(especially of yourself) some of us want to keep our lunch down!!) Who ever told you that you can cook???? And for your supporters-alot of them need a trip to the therapist too. Or better yet- I think that Divorce Court might be a better place. Maybe Mr.F. may find his spine again!!"

You may be "related" but you do not know me or my family.
I honestly don't care if this makes it worse. We don't want your friendship or your presence in our family.
And we certainly do not want your presence on the blog.
That was despicable.
I am ashamed for you.

Thank you.
Really.
I'm just going to take this as far as it needs to go today and then I'll be moving on.

You have amazing strength, Mrs. F.

I hope this comes to a quick resolution.

You don't deserve to be attacked.

You can't "disinvite" someone to read a blog. That's just stupid. You should make your blog password-protected instead and just give the password out to those who you want. The whole point of a blog is that you're letting it all hang out there. If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.

All I can do is shake my head at the mean girls and wish them well. Their life is going to be hard.

It's usually the mean people that lack the social and intellectual skills required to accomplish great things and develop genuine, lasting relationships.

Oh - and I think you should rent the movies "Mean Girls" and "Saved." I think you'll like the ending...

Mrs Furious said...

Mike that is where you are wrong.
I can "disinvite" them to read it. I can't make them abide by it. But I can make my wishes known.
And they can know that their presence is unwanted.
That's the goal here.

I ordinarily agree with Mike when it comes to web sites like Dooce, where there are millions of readers and the writer is making a living off their writing. If you're sticking it out there for an audience like that and paying your mortgage with their eyeballs, you kind of have to take the good with the bad. But this is a personal blog, and if people don't like it, they should either continue lurking and keep their traps shut or move on.

I can't believe Swalk is related to you. Un-fucking-believable. (I don't use that word often, but it seems right.)

Deb said...

Okay... I totally forgot why I was commenting in the first place.

That bit about these people who read but obviously didn't so much as comment or call when things were going rough for you? That was probably the most irksome thing about this whole situation for me. I wondered about that when this flared up, because I questioned how many of them bothered to call when Kid was diagnosed with seizures or congratulated you on your phenomenal fitness achievements.

They can't bother to pat you on the back for pulling together three square meals a day for your family, but they rush to the assistance of two people who completely lack in social graces because you wrote about their behavior over brunch. That's classy.

And why is "blog" in quotes when Swalk writes? It's actually a blog. Really. Nothing fake about it.

I could riff on this for hours (as I'm sure you and Mr. F. already have). I admit it's been on my brain all day, hence my constant checking in today. My apologies for all the traffic from Minnesota.

Deb,

Also,
re:password protection etc... I would have to limit the readership to 100... and I can't do that.

Mrs. F... I agree with Deb.

You do so much good.

Yah, I've been checking in a bunch more the last few days. I've had more downtime at work, etc.

I've only been reading regularly for a few weeks. Sometimes I don't comment because I don't have anything more to add.

But today I do!

We all sympathize and are on your side. (Mom, Dad and Me) Dad has some wise and worldly newspaper man advice he'd like to give you, there may be an email.

We've been talking about it quite a bit. You probably hit too close to home with the inlaws and the cousin reacted. She sounds like she's very young.

You're sure swalk is family? Wow. Anyway, I apreciate the honesty and the chance to get to know you better since we're not a terribly close family. If you've got any kind of LJ account I'd be happy to give you my Lj name.

Um... yeah that got really long! I'm off to my next job next Thursday, hopefully I'll get to see y'all at the end of the summer. Meanwhile I'll keep reading, and, when there's time, commenting if you don't mind.

I know I'm living in the wrong state right now, Mrs F, but I hope some of us from CT are still welcome! Also I thought the same thing as Deb about the word blog being in quotes. It's obviously so absolutely real...

And I'm really glad that you do have some supportive family members showing up to get in your corner!

What about HI!? I check your blog several titmes a day! :)

Mrs Furious said...

Liz,
LOL... HI in the house!

Elizabeth,
I really appreciate your family's support. It is nice to know that some people can read the blog in its proper context and just appreciate it for what it is.

Yes I'm pretty sure swalk is family... there was some very interesting "research" being done on the blog that related to the post they were commenting about.

I assumed you must be home between jobs.

The interesting thing about the in-law stuff is that they came looking for it. Whatever. Guess where we won't be going for xmas?! lol!

Gigs,
I'll forgive you for your location ;)

Wow Mrs. F. The crazies have a thing for you. We all love reading your blog and you know that this person is just looking for a place to vent their anger and use you as an excuse.
I wouldn't even give them a forum. I would delete and move on. We all know how valuable you are to us. Let this loser go.

Ah, the wonderful world of family.

I wish that I could make them go away for you. :(

Mrs F,
First thing i did today was come and check your blog. I checked it often yesterday.(Northwest Represent) Wishing for you that who ever swalk may be that at least she had apologized for being a total nut job. Hopefully today and this weekend bring a relaxing change from the last few days for you. Hopefully the weather is nice and you and your family can soak up some spirit lifting vitamin D. Maybe fly a kite..(hmm.. i dont think i have actually ever done this but it seems like a nice idea) :) Anyway, have a good weekend and push this crap out of your mind!

I don't comment a lot, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm sorry that you are going through this.

Man...it makes me want to hug my ILs right now. They might be annoying and crazy but at least they aren't mean or bat-shit crazy.

Southern Fried Girl said...

There are insane peeps in Luziana but um, that's just me. And I frankly don't get why people would read you if they don't agree or at least RESPECT what you say. If they feel the need to express and opinion (and I did not read all the back and forth just yet that you are referring) but maybe if they comment and are RESPECTFUL, then it would not be so annoying, yes?

But yeah, if so called family is gonna come and create a ruckus, it's time to move on family. Buh bye now. :)

However, yeah, the psycho from LA - that's just me. I check a few times a day. But I'm nice. Sometimes. Unless you cut me off in traffic. Then it's on.

:P
