I love her variegated pink crocs..in fact loved her whole pink ensemble..what a little doll she is. I do hope she has a wonderful first day and first school experience. It can shape her whole attitude toward school in general.
I listen to a talk show that has a "Letting Go" day each fall, and listeners call in and talk about taking their kid to college. They blubber and cry (it can make you tear up just listening)...they should do a "Letting Go" show for Moms of kindergarteners, too. :)
Can't wait to hear her take on school. (I wonder if there will be any Israelites in her class?!)
Those pictures taken from behind are so perfect! What a good shot of her walking down the sidewalk. Sorry about your camera...but good excuse for a new one right?
I look forward to hearing the great "kid-isms" that I know she will come up with when you ask her about her day.
I'm with the others; I got a little misty. She looks so cute and fashionable on her first day. I remember getting very excited about my first-day outfit for first grade; not so much for kindergarten.
I should note that the 1st pic of her "outfit" was all her doing. She hung up her dress and shoes so they'd be ready to go.
While I was able to drop her off without crying... not so much once her absence was really felt in the day. Baby continually asking "Sissy?" isn't helping ;)
It's bittersweet. Bitter freaking sweet. One of my favorite quotes about being a parent is this, "having a child is like watching your heart walk about outside of your body." You want so badly for them to learn and experience new things, but watching them take those first solo steps is heart-wrenching. It's a happy kind of sad though, right? I'd say it gets easier, but even with mine starting 2nd and 1st this year, I can honestly say I'll cry those same bittersweet tears come the 1st day of school next week.
Although...picking out the perfect outfit does make it sting a little bit less. Loved Kid's pink ensemble and how she had it all prepped for the morning. My #2 has to have at least one pink item on every day.
I totally sympathize with you, Mrs. F. It seems just yesterday Tori was walking into her Kindegarten classroom. And I was crying. It doesn't get any easier with the 2nd one, either! I think I cried harder with my baby than I did with the older one.
Awww... these pictues look A LOT like when I took my daughter to college last week--the poses, etc, except, you know, 13 years later... It's the SAME FEELING!
And, to add to the breaking things on the first day, my daughter dropped her new iPhone and shattered it. Not sure who was sadder (me, the purchaser, or her, the klutz).
Pics by Mr F again... and forever more... until I can get me a new camera! Fortunately I can still do videos since I don't need to "see" myself.
Carrie, Just the other day Kid found a ribbon in the trash (Mr F is constantly throwing out ribbons much to Kid's & my chagrin) and she said "Dad! Why did you throw that out?!?! That's what I wear when I'm an Israelite!"
And Kid LOVED school she promptly exclaimed "I LOVE my new school" upon pick up.
Lydia (my 5 year old) just took a look at Kid's photos, and wants to know if "she is going to my Kindergarten" and "can we see her sometime?". : ) You know you can come visit in DC anytime!
Caffeine Court, Oh that'll be Baby all the way. She'd walk by herself to Kindergarten now! I'm going to have to have a love child before then so I don't have to kill myself ;)

Awwww... I shed a tear, even if you didn't!
Look at her, out there,"discovering the magic of life-long learning."
Crazy hippies.
you're the 2nd person that I know that broke their camera on the 1st day of Kindergarten
sorry 'bout that.
hope she has a wonderful 1st day!
btw...great shots!
Awww, great pics. I'm with Haley. I got a little misty, too.
I know it's cliche, but man, they grow up fast.

Stay strong Mom.
Great photos. Good thing you got these shots before the camera broke!

Is the camera salvageable?
Kid looks adorable! So cute - she looks so excited... good luck :o)

Oh I forgot to mention that Kid got up before everyone this morning... she was VERY excited to go!
Oh and Mr F took these pics with his camera.
Fortunately our anniversary is Monday and now he knows what to get me ;)

Yay! So glad it went well today!!
What sweet pictures!
So glad she had a great day! She looked so cute - loved the picture with the crocs perched on the ends of the clothes hanger.
My little one starts kindergarten next Tuesday... sniff... but she is SO excited.

I'll feel like a loser responding with the same answers to everyone...
Thanks for the comments!
Emily,
Hey we just might take a trip to DC sometime this year.
Those pictures are priceless.
My youngest starts Kindergarten next week. She told me today that she's walking in by herself!
I'm going to miss her so much!
