Sucking It Up

I've noticed a trend around here... maybe you've noticed it too... every couple of weeks I hit a wall. I feel overwhelmed and tired. Then I feel a great push to get back on track. Then I get my mojo back. Then I start baking. Then I get tired and stressed. Then I hit a wall. Sounds familiar right? (And yes I'm fairly certain this cycle has at least a little to do with my... um.... cycle.)

Well, I know I've said it before, but enough is enough. I'm sick of the rollercoaster ride. You know when I didn't feel this way? That's right when I was losing weight. Why? Because I didn't let anything sway me from sticking to my diet and exercise routines. Not hormones. Not holidays. And you know what? I felt great. I had energy. I was proud of myself. I was.... a.... BADASS. Damn I miss those days.

I'm not "technically" trying to lose weight. Although I should say that instead of having a weight range of 109-112 I have found myself hovering at the VERY top end of that range (so yeah not exactly a range)... which might explain why my stomach looks pouchy in all my videos! And my body fat % is actually up and stuck at 22% which means those extra couple of pounds are pure fat. And we all know where I like to store my fat! So I guess I am technically trying to lose fat. And that isn't happening (in fact clearly I'm gaining fat) doing things the way I've been doing them.

I'm getting back on board. I'm going back to square one. I'm cutting out Mc Donald's, soda (yes I've had a couple this week), and baking like it was a full-time job. I'm going to (not just try to) get in 5-6 hours of cardio a week. And I am going to (not just say it but do it) to do two 30 minute pilates routines. If I bake (and even though I say I do it for the kids... I inevitably eat 8 of 12 muffins) I am going to limit myself to 2 servings of said baked good per day. I am going back to precise calorie counting (not guesstimating because I'm lazy or tired).

I'm not starting next week. I'm starting today. Right now. By June 7th (my birthday) I plan to be 20% body fat and a steady 109.

What is it about the allure of baking? I think I only baked once or twice (and even then it was a cake or brownie mix from a box) before kids. Now that I am home and have 3 kids, I feel the NEED to bake...from SCRATCH...ALL THE TIME! It is the domesticated housewife in me coming out I guess. (who knew?). And I feel guilty if I haven't baked in a while. And when I bake, I feel guilty for eating 80% of said baked items.

Go figure. (as I say this, i have about 5 webpages open with different bread machines. I must get one of them-my kneading sucks-so that i can bake more fresh breads...and eat more fresh breads..I C.A.N.N.O.T R.E.S.I.S.T.!!)

Marie,
LOL I've got a loaf of bread baking in my bread machine right now!

I've got a Zojirushi... which King Arthur recommends.

Workout Mommy,

I'm seriously sick of my last 6lbs that won't budge. I think I'm going to get them sucked out with liposuction. Now, just need to find the fool to pay for it.... mmmwwwahhhhh.

Ok, not really. I do need to take some drastic steps again to get where I want to be. I'm diong it too.

Stupid baking. I love it.

There's something about doing it with the kids that's just FUN.

Aaron's way better at it than me so I tell myself if I do it enough he won't start back up (I'm all about supressing his talents...I can resist my banana bread, but if he goes and makes anything, I'm done for). I have strategies in place for when I do though, a plate out for the neighbors, counting out how many the kids'll eat then putting them AWAY, give some to Aaron to hide in his office, pretend I don't know where he's hiding it...

good luck!

P.O.M. & Julie,
Yay! I need company. I did workout tonight and I'm about to mix up my cookie dough. I'm back in business ;)

Katieo,
Oh Lord if Mr F baked I'd be in serious trouble. I"m going back to the frozen cookie dough.

Have you ever read/tried body for life? there is a lot less workout time involved, but because you focus on intensity and weights you can get really fabulous results quickly. Maybe it would be good to switch up the workout routine and try something new.

Anon,
no I haven't tried it. I'll go google...

I'm on board too. After finishing a half a bag of tostitos, restaurant style with homemade guacamole, I not only feel absolutely disgusting, I am in fact absolutely disgusting. I'm mapping out our meals for the weekend and I'm going back to clean eating. I feel physically sick eating this way.

Did you check out the BFL website? A bevy of info...

Don't pay attention to the BFL for women site -- totally watered down.

Check out my post on clean eating. I'm detoxing this weekend...

Love this post.

I rally like when you didnt say TRY but DO for the cardio.

My motto? there's not trying only DOING (and always pick a goal where you are setting yourself up for success)

Im keeping my lurking eye on you and cheering you on!
