I'm not allowed to not like where I live... it is offensive to everybody who lives anywhere within a 10 hour drive of here.
No... seriously. It seems that people have strong feelings about Asheville. And here is the deal... I just got here! Give me a few days I'm sure I'll get used to it. It's not personal... really. I've just uprooted myself and my kids from my family and friends, with hardly a month's notice, to a place I had never been. To a place that is more of a city, and a bit more rundown, and a tad more expensive. The pawn shop, gun shop, used appliance store, and the "Gang Free Zone" signs on the public school a few blocks away aren't helping. The large daily cinnamon bun from the bakery up the street is. It is an adjustment. But is it not at all possible that Asheville isn't a "step up" from everywhere else in the world? I'm wondering... I mean really... isn't it at all possible that where we moved from was in fact nicer? Just putting that out there.

Almost Home... whatever that means
I'm packing the kids up tonight for a repeat of our adventurous trip up here... made all the more fun by taking place during dinner & bedtime... should be extra fun.
The weird part is that this will be our first time coming home to our new house... a house we really haven't lived in... a house that won't look anything like the last time we saw it. I'm not sure if seeing our furniture in it will be comforting or if it will be weird if not sad to see them in a different space. I'll let you know.

First Take On Asheville
I'm sure my feelings will change and evolve once I get settled in... but... in the meantime you can enjoy this little ditty recorded on my FIRST day in our new "hometown":

Safe (If Not Sane) Travels
Well we arrived safe and sound. Sorry for the delay but finding WiFi in Northern Michigan has not been as easy as I had envisioned. Nothing like 2 flights, 2 kids, and only 2 seats for a little flying fun. Oh did I mention that both flights were those small regional jets that require you to go out and walk up the stairs? While carrying Baby... and 2 carry ons... and spotting Kid on the impossibly steep scary steps... and carrying a hot cup of coffee?!?!? Oh and after getting "situated" that the stewardess informed us we were on the wrong side of the plane and that babies must sit on the right side and we had to pack everything up and switch with the kind folks to our right?! Good times.
OMG
I can't believe I finally got internet access!!! I feel like a crack addict... I'm practically shaking I'm so excited!
I'm going to take this opportunity to post a few posts but I probably won't be able to return any comments until we get back to Asheville on Tuesday.

UPDATE
Hello everyone, Mr. F here pinch-hitting while Mrs F and the kids are at the cottage...
Mrs F wants you all to know that internet connections are all but non-existent at the cottage and in town, and she may not post until returning to Asheville next week. By then (after some drama) we'll have our high-speed connection at home and I'm sure her posting will resume with a vengeance.
Our belongings all arrived on Monday, as did some of our new appliances. We are going with Mrs. F's planned arrangements (see previous video) and so far so good. Things are fitting and looking good in those spots. Perhaps I'll add some pics tomorrow so you can see where things are at.
That's all for now!

Things Are Crazy
Sorry folks but we're in the house and no longer have a consistent reliable connection... as in if I stand right up against the dining room window I can bum off of some unsuspecting neighbor...
I'm headed north with the girls and I'm pretty sure the local cafe there has WiFi... so I'll be checking in.
Remember I'll be back with my old school blogging ways on August 1st. So get ready for weekly plans, crazy cardio, and some (ahem) weight loss blogging to return in the very near future.

Haven't Found The Hairbrush Yet
And... yeah... that's been making things interesting these last few days.

Uh Oh
Okay lets just say when we did the walk through there was a strong odor... the odor of cat piss... in one of the bedrooms.
Enjoy
"See you later... enjoy your new life." Mrs F says to Mr F as he walks out the door to work.
"I'll enjoy my new life of loneliness." Mrs F continues (not quite) under her breath.

Hyperventilating
Here's where it's at:
Yesterday the movers came and packed up everything we hadn't been able to/weren't intending to do ourselves. It was a father and son team (both named Dave)and they were incredibly efficient. So much so that they packed some stuff that shouldn't have been packed (check back soon for a "moving lessons" post sometime soon).
This weekend (after not receiving the informative final move call from "Heather" at Atlas... so therefore assuming everything was still on target) I decided against my crazy "I'm going to drive with the kids from Asheville to Traverse City (15 hours) by myself so we can relax while Mr F unpacks" trip. Having had some reasonable success Pricelining a ticket for Mr F's return I tried for Traverse City and BINGO I scored two tickets for less than $400/each (down from $1200 mind you).
So the plan was to load up today, clean (grrr), go to the closing, drive to Asheville. Then on Thursday we close on our new house and the stuff arrives Friday. Unpack the beds and stuff and enjoy it a little and then fly Up North on Sunday. Unfortunately we found out yesterday(not Friday when they should have called) that our stuff isn't coming until MONDAY. Great. I could have just as easily flown up on Friday after the closing... but NO... now I've got to mill around an EMPTY house with NOTHING in it for an extra couple of days. Did I mention that they have already packed ALL our linens, pots & pans, PILLOWS, toys (and yes these will feature prominently on the "moving lessons" post don't you worry).
